Who won the VP Debate?

Palin Biden Debate

Sarah Palin won the debate and exceeded all expectations. She did absolutely GREAT!!! I find it funny, msnbc is quick to attack Palin, but never Obama or Biden, hmmm. Why is this? BECAUSE MSNBC IS BIAS AND LIBERAL. I want my VP to be straight forward with me and not tell me things just to win my vote. Biden did this. Notice he really didn't refute her when she brought up him changing his views when he became Obama's VP choice. Biden says Obama is qualified to be president, hes experienced, hes done this, hes done that....etc. Joe, a few months ago you were one of the first people to say Obama was not experienced enough and is a great threat to our security because of his inexperience. Whats changed? Also, does anyone know what great accomplishments Biden has done? What does he have to show for his many years in the Senate? Can anyone answer that? Honestly, I didn't know Biden or Palin before this election, but with the Media constantly attacking Palin, and promoting the Obama/Biden ticket I want to know Biden's great accomplishments. For two years the democrats have been in control of both the Senate and Congress. What has Obama and Biden done to help the U.S. in those two years. What better time to propose and pass bills to help the economy and create a great presidential campaign platform. In my opinion both did nothing because the democrats needed the economy to continue to suffer to create a strong platform against the Republicans. And If you believe everything that Kieth O. tells you, I recommend a serious reality check. All the media does is try to manipulate people to believe what they think is best and will increase profits.

"Also, does anyone know what great accomplishments Biden has done? What does he have to show for his many years in the Senate? Can anyone answer that?"

Are you kidding me?

Some of his most notable accomplishments:

Violence Against Women Act

The Biden Plan to end the war in Iraq

Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994

2007 Biden Crime Bill

College Affordability and Creating Chances for Educational Success for Students (ACCESS) Act

Rail Security Act of 2007

The list goes on and on...

And here's a six page list of bills he has sponsored:

I don't really think that "exceeding expectations" is really the criteria on which winning or losing should be determined. Palin did exceed expectations in that she didn't ruin herself, but to say that that means she "won" is pretty absurd. While Biden could have won a lot more decisively I think he was pretty well ahead.

Side: Biden

You know what, I am a big fan of Joe Biden, and would never ever vote for Palin, but I really don't think Senator Biden really delivered. He's had better days.

I think Palin won the VP debate because she was straight forward and did a great job.

Straight forward is the exact opposite of what Palin was. She gave stump speeches instead of answering the question and Gwen Iffill, the moderator even said that Palin "blew her off."

Also saying she won the debate because she "did a great job" is a little general. Can you give us some specifics?

Side: Biden

I say Palin, but then again, I'm big ass biased. I have no idea what I just said ;)

Palin showed she needs to be taken seriously. She more then made up for her TV interview. However, I admit, I think Biden did a fine job as well. Both were very respectful. I give the nudge to Palin though!

Great performance, no substance. We Americans are are smarter than that. I don't care how many times you say "maverick" or "soccer mom" we still know. You can put lipstick on it and it's still just Bush in a skirt.

She simply avoided answers to questions she was unable to answer, and in her closing, took credit for answering tough questions. I swear they want us to believe that the sky is green.

I did think she looked attractive. That's something I guess.

I like pitbulls, I just don't like Palin aka Alaska disasta.

Biden seemed to have a much better grasp on foreign affairs and facts about the politics going on. Although Palin came across as a person with passion, there were just too much pre-memorized slogans. Also she was very much on the attack rather than supporting what she believed. And the winking and references to "the mavrick" weirded me out a little also.

Biden definitely won, but Palin certainly held her own and stayed strong and on the offensive, despite predictions that she would crash and burn.

But the fact is, I do not base my decision for whom I am going to vote for on the outcome of a debate or the charisma and speeches made by the candidates. My decision is made based upon the issues that are of utmost importance to me. The candidate who best aligns with those beliefs will receive my vote.

They tell you this stuff because they think you'll buy it. I can't believe how insulting this ticket is to the American people. The theme seems to be - we'll tell them what we want them to hear and they will believe us. As if people are stupid. The sad part is that many will believe them and not seek truth.

Side: Biden

This female is absolutely untrustworthy, dangerous and unaware that the American people can see through to her unhealthy core of unethical tactics like glass. She looks you in the eye and lies...blantantly! She is dangerous because she seems, in a soccer mom kind of way, to be sincere in her pronouncements. A smile, a wink a little nod and then lies that make my skin crawl just pour out of her as though they were nothing but the truth, so help me God! And she does it without hesitation for one of two reasons. She was pre-programmed to such an extent she gave the answers she rehearsed with someone or she's just an out and out liar. I believe it's a bit of both leaning 98% toward the latter. She continuously overstates facts pertaining to her own state (20% of all energy production needed for the USA while it's a mere 3 1/2%!) and her role within them (The Alaska pipeline(s)) and taking on the big oil barons! She lied about the Constitution giving her more powers as VP should she wish to "exert" those powers...not even the 25th Amendment did that!!! Her "handlers" must be ripping their clown wigs off at this point. This Governor actually believes the American people will take her at her word...and that would be her most fatal error.

I did not see the entire debate, however I saw Palin's view on how she knows environmental issues because she lived in Alaska. That was rediculous, Biden could not have done worse than that. And Palin had this blinking thing going on that just bugged me. It was like every 1/2 second she blinked and it just bugged me. Also, she talked way too fast and her words seemed to blend together instead of having single meanings.

Side: Biden

People who happen to be good speakers, whether it be natural or taught, understand that cadence and fluctuation of tone are paramount as is enunciation. Sarah Palin is NOT a public speaker. She has no command of her audience nor the information necessary to get across to the masses. One stops listening to her after she puts 34 words in each sentence with no connective thoughts to emphasize the importance, if any, of the content. She rambles, and in doing so she loses her point very quickly. She then tries to recuperate by quickly changing the subject and losing the audience again because they are uncertain of how she got there or where she's going. She is also a lazy speaker. She does not punctuate her rhetoric at all by using tried and true vocal techniques or nuances. She enunciates poorly and mispronounces words such as NUCLEAR over and over again. She also drops her consonants at the end of words which makes her sound as though she was having a conversation with a school chum. Her meaning is lost due to her lack of skill, knowledge and the meanderings of unclear thought. Whether or not you like Joe Biden, contrast her presentation with his and you'll hear the difference between someone who is seasoned and someone who is simply a poorly programmed talking machine that winks and blinks all too often. I just can't figure out if she blinks due to a strange optical phenomenon or if her $375.00 frames are pinching her!

Kukla, you're making a common mistake. You need to see her through the eyes of an idiot, a neurotypical American who can't tell the difference. Her tone is not a public speaker's, it's meant for a one-on-one style. So for every guy who scoffs when she winks, there are a thousand more whose mental faculties don't allow them to look past "MILF."

And sure, her speech is incoherent and rambling. To an intelligent person who's processing the ideas. But someone who's used to consuming idiot media is most likely only processing the words and ideas that stand out. The lack of Formal Operational thought helps her cause further.

Supporting Evidence: About 25% of adults do not develop Formal Operational faculties. (psychology.about.com)

HGrey is right....

Palin is the most interesting candidate to hear speak, NOT because she's intelligent or well-spoken, but because you NEVER know what she's going to do next! Her mispronunciation is not actually mispronunciation it's called a northern accent. Why did you feel the need to mention she's wearing $375.00 frames? Do you own the same pair? No, I don't think Palin is anything special she's a Little ditsy, and thinks any ole' Joe can be a VP obviously, but don't attack her on unvalidated pretenses...

sigh

I hate to say it, but Biden took home the prize for this one...

Palin, poor gal, had odviously memorized every talking point out there.

I mean I'm a strong republican, but Biden gave decent responses to every question.

I wanted to see the underdog have a swing at this one, but sadly no...

Poor poor Palin....

However, the Palin attack on the Windfall tax was decent, though rehersed....

I'm ecstatic to see what happens tonight in the McCain vs. Obama debate...

I really hope McCain kicks butt!

Geez...
