Minority rules is the history of mankind and dressing it up in fancy wrapping or with pseudo-language like "freedom" does not fool anybody with a mental age higher than six.

This does not change the truth of my statement. Bernie, like ALL socialists, is an enemy of freedom because he wants to give the few in government MORE power over the lives of the citizenry. He wants the few in government to take MORE of our money to spend it on things we don't necessarily want. The de facto result is the few in government forcing me to spend more of my money on what the few in government decide, thereby making me LESS FREE.

By contrast, Trump reduced and cancelled regulations designed and implemented by the few in government that take away the freedom of people to run our lives and businesses how we choose.

Trump is trying to eliminate Obamacare, which fewer than 400 people forced on a nation of over 300 million. Obamacare includes the requirement that small business owners (with 50+ employees) provide healthcare insurance for their employees, regardless of any agreement the owners and employees freely choose to enter into.

Trump's tax plan relieved Americans of the requirement that they be FORCED to buy health insurance even if they did not want to buy it.

If you disagree, please explain EXACTLY and IN DETAIL what specific freedoms Trump and his policies and goals are taking away from US citizens, and exactly which policies are taking them away.

How do you figure?

First, there is nothing in the new tax law that changes any rules for the disabled or the elderly.

I assume that by working poor you mean people who are in the bottom 50% of income earners.

Near as I can tell from reading the bill that Trump signed, Trump's tax cuts HELP the working poor.

- 1 - Regarding how many pay any tax at all: The bottom 40% paid no net federal income tax under the old system.

The new tax law doubles the standard deductions and child tax credits. By doing this, the new system will mean that the bottom 48% of earners will pay no income tax (assuming everyone is making the same amount of money.)

This means that FEWER of the working poor will pay any Federal income tax at all.

This HELPS the working poor under Trump's tax law.

- 2 - Regarding the EIC: Many of the working poor receive the Earned Income Credit (EIC), because they are working. This reduces how much of their income can be taxed. As a result of the EIC, many people actually get more money back than had been deducted from their paychecks.

Essentially they are paid a bonus by the other taxpayers, mostly by the top 10%, who already pay 70% of all Federal income tax.

This group who receive the EIC bonus are the working poor you are talking about.

The new tax rules do not reduce the EIC. Rather they INCREASE it for most people because the standard deductions and child tax credit are doubled under the new law.

This means MORE of the working poor will receive the EIC, and the EIC will be HIGHER, increasing the number of people who receive refunds beyond what was deducted from their paychecks.

This is a VERY BIG HELP to the working poor under Trump's tax law.

- 3 - Regarding those who actually pay taxes: Remember, these are the people who make more than the 48% who pay no Federal income tax AFTER taking all possible deductions. The Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) will have to be $400 higher to move from the bottom bracket (10% tax rate) to move to the next bracket up for their marginal rate.

That second bracket went down from 15% to 12%, which means the highest incomes of the working poor will be taxed at a LOWER tax rate under Trump's tax bill.

This HELPS the working poor and the lower middle class under Trump's tax law.

- 4 - Mortgage/State income tax deduction: Most of the working poor do not own homes or have mortgages. Thus, eliminating the ability to deduct both property and state income tax (but retaining the ability to write off one) does not affect the vast majority of the working poor. Moreover, this only affects people in states with State income tax. If they are in such a state they are likely to have very low state income tax rates because they are low income, so they have the option to pay that, and write off the property taxes, which tend to be higher.

- 5 - Regarding Obamacare: Most of the working poor cannot afford Obamacare premiums. Many of these people are single and healthy, and don't need Obamacare. Thus having the OPTION of dropping the requirement to purchase Obamacare HELPS the working poor.
