Why Women Are Disadvantaged in Corporate U.S.

Simple: Testosterone.

Men have more testosterone than women; Testosterone is responsible for competitivity and dominance; Corporations endorse competition among their workers; Therefore, men have a competitive advantage over women.

The fact that most corporations were founded and developed by men speaks for itself. All that women can try to do is to work their way up to senior management, often by their ability, good judgment and management skills. However, such capable females are few and far between so their numbers in senior positions is reflected in this statistical fact. Females are good at sitting ''outside the management box'' and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of existing work practices and new projects. In addition to your indisputable assertion that increased male testosterone is the reason behind their dominance in business it should be recognized that females have a stronger 'self survival' instinct than men and are therefore less likely to take risks. This congenital feature of their nature makes them less likely to venture into a new business or to expand a company's activity into a new market or product/service range. What is happening now is that corporations are being victimized and made feel guilty for not not having, what our 'here today, gone tomorrow' politicians, consider to be insufficient numbers of females on the board of directors or in senior management. What these neanderthals, who don't live in the real world, overlook is that once corporations cease to employ or promote staff exclusively on merit, and denying management the use of their intuition, ( which was an important contributory factor in the firm's success) then that concern will enter onto the slippery slope to failure. The average risk taking entrepreneur is male who has the biological wherewithal to succeed in the cut and thrust of the back stabbing, dog eat dog world of business. It is only after the war has been fought and the victor steps up and and views the slaughter of the commercial battlefield that females, who have enjoyed a free ride during that really difficult initial period, begin to seek advancement of their careers within a the safety of an established business. Good work if you can get it. My motto;- never employ a female of child bearing age.

Your theory to explain the fact that women are disadvantaged in Corporate U.S is biological, but your theory is falsified by the fact that this is different from country to country - thus can the reason not be biological, probably cultural.

Firstly, my argument is both valid and sound - so, in order to invalidate it, you must first invalidate one of my premises, which you neglected to do.

Secondly, when you say 'difference', are you asserting that in some countries women have more testosterone than men; and, within these countries, they have a corporate system equivalent to that of America?

Lastly, you neglected to read the title which referred to corporations located in the U.S.. So your point invoking geographical differences is fallacious at least and irrelevant at best.

Haha, no I meant that in some other countries women are not of disadvantage. Maybe women are of disadvantage in Corporate U.S., but that is not the case in for instance Denmark or Germany. Your theory is that women are of disadvantage because of their lack of testosterone which is responsible for competitivity and dominance. If this were true, then that would mean all women in all countries would have been of disadvantage, because your reason for this fact is biological. We are biologically all the same, culturally however, we are not, and therefore I think a theory that males in certain cultures are more dominant or competitive would be more accurate.

I don't think you understand that your theory is based on biology, which is the same for all countries. I falsified your theory by pointing out how it doesn't work in for instance Denmark and Germany, because even though we are the same biologically, our women are not of disadvantage here.

Not only is the factor of 'we have women look at us we are open minded' a reason why women get favored for less qualifications than the men they compete with for the same job but furthermore women tend to be better at working while men tend to be better at innovating new things to be worked on. Women are the doers and find easier time in employment.
