CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.
To learn more about the CreateDebate scoring system, check out the FAQ.
When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.

i haven't had time to go through every single one but I'm seeing a trend. First off all these are taken at face value and are not read like a competent piece of literature that uses different styles, rhetorical devices. For those that are back to back like one's concerning noah and the one in proverbs about whether to answer a fool or not. Do you really think that a contradiction? They're right next to each in proverbs 26. Think about it before you call it a contradiction! It's presenting a paradox, different perspectives are being given, it could be alot of things but think about it first! Its saying to answer the fool, but not get into a circular argument with him (which I am starting to learn this happens ALOT and should follow this verse's wisdom). Many are translation errors like troop numbers etc. Many are Old/ New Testament contradictions when two different covenants are in place at two different times.
Omnipotent means all powerfull. God can literally do ANYTHING, for instance, poofing the universe into existence.
Omniscient means all knowing. Knowing everything about anything at all times from all perspectives in all contexts.
This paradox can be summed up as follows: "Does God know what he's going to do tomorrow? If so, could he do something else?" If God knows what will happen, and does something else, he's not omniscient. If he knows and can't change it, he's not omnipotent.
Or things like, can god ever create something he doesnt know about? If so he is not all knowing, if not he is not all powerfull.
Then you can mess up him being omnibenevolent or "all good" and omniscient if you ask questions like:
"does god know what its like to lust after a woman? or snort blow off a hookers ass? or stab somebody to death and enjoy it?"
If he does know what these things feel like then he is not all good, but if he doesnt then he is not all knowing.
And STILL we can mess up omnipotence and omnipresence (being everywhere at once all the time). Because can god make himself only be in one place? If so then he is not omnipresent, and if not then he is not omnipotent.
Based on these four commonly used adjectives defining God we can deduce that he is one big contradiction in the sky.
I see. There are few things I should mention first.
1) God isnt limited by time. He of course would understand what a "tomorrow" is but there really is no tomorrow for him. Also he doesnt break his promises. If he is Alpha and Omega, beginning and the end, he already did everything. There is no tomorrow for him.
2) does god know what its like to lust after a woman? or snort blow off a hookers ass? or stab somebody to death and enjoy it?"
I would say that by far he knows. Will he do it? No. He understands what is good and evil or whats right and wrong. He has to know these things.
If he does know what these things feel like then he is not all good, but if he doesnt then he is not all knowing.
He can still be good. I am sure you are aware of school shootings. Will you start one? Hopefully not. That doesnt make you bad but in fact makes you good for choosing not to.
3) And STILL we can mess up omnipotence and omnipresence (being everywhere at once all the time). Because can god make himself only be in one place? If so then he is not omnipresent, and if not then he is not omnipotent.
Well this is quite bothersome honestly. The way I see it is like this. You said can he make himself stay in one place. Of course. If he knows all he already knew. If he is Alpha amd Omega he already has done it. For example when he first began making everything he had to be in a single place right? Also omnipotent means unlimited power, force, or authority. Omniscient: Total Knowledge. Omnibenevolence: All-loving or infinitely good. One must understand what is infinitely bad in order to understand what is infinitely good. Just like the saying you cant expierience happiness if you dont know sadness.

That was dodging the paradox. God knows what 24 hours is and could track it. the paradox is still valid.
And can god break a promise? Then he isnt all good, and if he cant he isnt omnipotent. And based on christianity he isnt alpha and omega. according to them he still reaches down and does shit here. that theory only works on some kind of deism. thats not what were talking about.
I would say that by far he knows. Will he do it? No. He understands what is good and evil or whats right and wrong. He has to know these things.
He says in the bible if you think something then you have already committed sin in his heart. So if god knows these things he isnt all good. If he doesnt he isnt all knowing. And how come god can know good and evil but humans have to be destroyed once they know? and how were they supposed to know that eating from the tree was evil if they didnt know what evil was before that? makes no fucking sense. i can chain a contradiction or paradox off of almost anything you say.
He can still be good. I am sure you are aware of school shootings. Will you start one? Hopefully not. That doesnt make you bad but in fact makes you good for choosing not to.
1) i dont know what it FEELS like to commit one. god does. that corrupts him.
2) Nothing can occur without god knowing it and causing it (omnipotence/omniscience) so he causes school shootings: ie: evil

1) again, the alpha omega is not the god were talking about.
2) you bring up a good point, before there was everything he could only be in one spot. so he wasnt omnipresent then but became that way after creating the universe. The argument still stands after that. Can he make himself go back to that one spot? If yes, he no longer is omnipresent, if not he isnt all powerfull.
3) can an all loving all perfect god make an evil and imperfect thing? That would be humanity.
And can god break a promise? Then he isnt all good, and if he cant he isnt omnipotent. And based on christianity he isnt alpha and omega. according to them he still reaches down and does shit here. that theory only works on some kind of deism. thats not what were talking about.
God claims to be Alpha and Omega. We cant wrap our minds around it. It is beyond our reasoning.
He says in the bible if you think something then you have already committed sin in his heart.
What verse?
So if god knows these things he isnt all good.
I can see where this comes from. But one must know all bad to know all good. I dont see how what you said above says that this is impossible. He knows all sin. He knows all good.
And how come god can know good and evil but humans have to be destroyed once they know?
False. Every human knows good and evil. When you decide to act upon the evil it is a sin. Recently I havent seen God smite anyone. He has only destroyed the ones that have done such evil acts.
and how were they supposed to know that eating from the tree was evil if they didnt know what evil was before that? makes no fucking sense.
They disobeyed God. That was the point. God told them do not eat of the fruit or surely you will die. They disobeyed. Released sin. That was pretty much it.
i can chain a contradiction or paradox off of almost anything you say
Honestly that is frieghtening yet interesting. That means I can test my knowledge.
1) i dont know what it FEELS like to commit one. god does. that corrupts him
Of course not. That doesnt make him bad. He know the opposite of that which is good. Like I said. You must understand bad in order to understand good and vice versa. Doesnt corrupt him unless he does it. Which he said he wont do because that would be a sin.
2) Nothing can occur without god knowing it and causing it (omnipotence/omniscience) so he causes school shootings: ie: evil
To me this doesnt make sense. How does he cause it? In what way? Please explain how he causes it. Because he truly doesnt. He knows it. He doesnt do it.
1) again, the alpha omega is not the god were talking about.
Yes it is. ---> " I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Revelation 22:13 NASB.
Can he make himself go back to that one spot? If yes, he no longer is omnipresent, if not he isnt all powerfull.
If you know everything. Witnessed everything. You were present. He already was in that spot. Has been in that spot. And will be in that spot. He is Alpha and Omega.
3) can an all loving all perfect god make an evil and imperfect thing? That would be humanity.
Not quite. In fact Lucifer was made pure. But in order to understand good you must know what is bad. Lucifer knew. He commited the first sin and thus gave way for the existence of hell. Adam was made pure. Eve was made from Adam while he was pure and was a pure creation of God. Eve and Adam sinned. They disobeyed God. Them and Satan commited the acts that made humanity imperfect. Not God.
God claims to be Alpha and Omega. We cant wrap our minds around it. It is beyond our reasoning
no no no no no dont you start with that "we cant possibly know" bullshit. God does not claim to be alpha and omega in the bible. He made it in 6 days then continuously interacts with it forever up through today. that is the claim.
What verse?
Matthew 5: 27-28
I can see where this comes from. But one must know all bad to know all good. I dont see how what you said above says that this is impossible. He knows all sin. He knows all good.
You cant know such horrible things and do what he did in the bible and be "all good". If he knows all good and all bad then the bad trumps the good and it cancels out. Also, if goodness defines god then god cannot define goodness therfore claiming morals came from him is circular just throwin that out there.
False. Every human knows good and evil. When you decide to act upon the evil it is a sin. Recently I havent seen God smite anyone. He has only destroyed the ones that have done such evil acts.
He murdered millions in a global flood...including children, babies, and little kittens and puppies with no remorse or will to fix it and he caused their sin in the first place by making the fucking tree and planning for them to eat from it.
Also yes we know morality almost inherently and we have came to a concensus almost worldwide that slavery and rape are evil, yet god condones them. That is evil.
They disobeyed God. That was the point. God told them do not eat of the fruit or surely you will die. They disobeyed. Released sin. That was pretty much it.
How were they supposed to know disobeying was wrong? remember they are practically mentally incapacitated because they have no idea what right and wrong are at ALL.
also, God couldve just whiped that knowledge from their minds OR heres an idea, not act like a child and throw a hissy fit about it. Now were moving away from condradictions and into how God is apparently the biggest hypocritical asshole and dumbass ever invented.
Honestly that is frieghtening yet interesting. That means I can test my knowledge.
Is knowledge of myths and mental gymnastics really valuable?
Of course not. That doesnt make him bad. He know the opposite of that which is good. Like I said. You must understand bad in order to understand good and vice versa. Doesnt corrupt him unless he does it. Which he said he wont do because that would be a sin.
God may not have shot up a school, but have you read the old testament? And even the new? He condones SLAVERY outright and the beating of sed slaves. Thats worse than a school shooting.
To me this doesnt make sense. How does he cause it? In what way? Please explain how he causes it. Because he truly doesnt. He knows it. He doesnt do it.
He knew that these things like tornadoes and school shootings would happen before he even made the universe. Therefore, when he made the universe he knew he would create one in which on December 10th 2012 Sandy Hook elementary school would get invaded and kids would be murdered. He couldve easily changed this, but he didnt. He couldve created universe X where there are not such things, but he created universe Y. Since god knows about all things before they happen and is the only one with the ability to have caused them, he causes everything.
Yes it is. ---> " I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Revelation 22:13 NASB.
Oh goodie you found another contradiction! He says HERE that he is the beginning and end and that's that.....BUT thereafter he continues to alter things and the whole jesus story and so on.
If you know everything. Witnessed everything. You were present. He already was in that spot. Has been in that spot. And will be in that spot. He is Alpha and Omega.
Not be in that spot at the same time hes in other spots. As in, can he retract himself from everywhere to only being, say, inside my refridgerator and NOWHERE else?
Not quite. In fact Lucifer was made pure. But in order to understand good you must know what is bad. Lucifer knew. He commited the first sin and thus gave way for the existence of hell.
oh now you bring MY god into this eh? (just kidding).
Well god knew even before creating lucifer that he would rebel and shit would go down...but he did in anyway. He couldve just created lucifer X that doesnt rebel, but he made lucifer Y that does. Nothing happens without his intention. Also, he didnt NEED to make hell. He couldve easily poofed him away or fixed his attitude but he didnt. And lets not forget WHY lucifer rebelled. He saw what god was doing to the humans and rebeled in our favor. like a kid standing up to a bully on the playground. But only, in this story the bully beats the kid to a pulp, and gets praised for it. Makes, no, sense.
And that being said god also knew that when he sent lucifer to hell that he would bring demons and cause all kinds of shit to happen to us but he also didnt prevent that.
Adam was made pure. Eve was made from Adam while he was pure and was a pure creation of God. Eve and Adam sinned. They disobeyed God. Them and Satan commited the acts that made humanity imperfect. Not God.
Nothing happens without god's prior knowledge and intention. He made these things happen knowing full well the consequences. They didnt do anything they werent created to do.
You can argue this stuff up and down, left and right, doing all kinds of flips and mental gymnastics to get around the obvious flaws in the stories, contradictions, and absurdities but in the end none of it makes sense.
And lest we forget that right above us is Cuaroc with 100 some odd other contradictions.
no no no no no dont you start with that "we cant possibly know" bullshit. God does not claim to be alpha and omega in the bible. He made it in 6 days then continuously interacts with it forever up through today. that is the claim.
Oh yes. I hoped for you to say the "six days" thing. God is described as resting on the seventh day. The word translated as "day" is "yom" in Hebrew. It normally means a 24 hour day, but can also refer to an interval of indeterminate duration. I hoped for you to play the six day card.
Matthew 5: 27-28
Hmm. Quite funny. There is a flaw in what you said though and what it says. You said if you even have a nad thought or even think it is a sin. This however only speaks about a married man who has a wife and lusts for another woman in his thoughts. As I expected. You would try to stretch this quite far. Sadly. That verse only applies to a man, or woman, who lusts for another woman, or man, while they are in marriage. Almost got me friend.
You cant know such horrible things and do what he did in the bible and be "all good".
What he did in the bible? Like flood the earth when everyone was in sin at the moment. Everybody. Everybody. Or what God did to job? Wait. No. I should be saying what Satan did to Job. My bad. No fault on God here besides setting that bar for faith. Or sacrificing his only begotten son? Can you name another one of the best love acts he could have done? It isnt easy. Or when he send humans to hell? Oh wait. My bad again. Satan tempts you into hell. Hell was originally for Satan and his fallen angels. Sorry. Not on God. Umm. Lets see. How about the tower of babbel? I mean a one world language is easier right? Yep. Until it becomes a usable tool for corruption.
If he knows all good and all bad then the bad trumps the good and it cancels out.
Umm. Not really. Not at all actually. If you know all bad and all good you are at zero right? Now if you choose only the good actions you are truly good. Not bad.
Also, if goodness defines god then god cannot define goodness therfore claiming morals came from him is circular just throwin that out there.
Morals are different for everybody. God said what he knows is right which is the opposite of bad making him good amd setting up that base for morals but truly we decide what we think is right or wrong. Most just so happen to parallel with what he said.
He murdered millions in a global flood...including children, babies, and little kittens and puppies with no remorse or will to fix it and he caused their sin in the first place by making the fucking tree and planning for them to eat from it.
God is a God of free will yes? Satan didnt have a tree. He did have any fruit. He just sinned. He flooded the earth because everybody was filled with sin. Everybody. How did he sin? By your logic there must have been a tree of some sort right? He wasnt mentally capable of doing so. So how did he sin?
Also yes we know morality almost inherently and we have came to a concensus almost worldwide that slavery and rape are evil, yet god condones them. That is evil.
Oh yes from the laws of the old testament? Yeah Christians cant follow anyone those really. God said to follow the laws of the land. Thus he even make sure we know rape and slavery are bad. Also as I said before those were the laws of old times.
How were they supposed to know disobeying was wrong? remember they are practically mentally incapacitated because they have no idea what right and wrong are at ALL.
If the were mentally incapacitated then why did Eve even listen to the serpent? Why was she able to make her own decision? Also they knew some stuff for example. "And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed" Genesis 2:25 NASB. They knew some stuff. You know what is funny? Eve even recited what God had told her. She knew. So how were they mentally not able to do anything?
also, God couldve just whiped that knowledge from their minds OR heres an idea, not act like a child and throw a hissy fit about it. Now were moving away from condradictions and into how God is apparently the biggest hypocritical asshole and dumbass ever invented.
Whiped the knowledge from Adam amd Eve? Sure. Is that free will? No. He would have had to do the same thing as Satan and would not be a free will God so why ask? The second part of your statement is indeed your opinion.
Is knowledge of myths and mental gymnastics really valuable?
Could be. Maybe. Maybe not.
God may not have shot up a school, but have you read the old testament? And even the new? He condones SLAVERY outright and the beating of sed slaves. Thats worse than a school shooting.
Yes I have read the old testament and the new. "Worse is subjective." - Quocalimar. Now let me ask you. Have you "read" the new and old testament? Did you notice that that ancient Isreal's heart was hard as stone? God tolerated things under the Old Law that had been long standing customs which he did not endorse. This was a temporary state of affairs until the civilization could progress to the extent to where they could learn a better way. God said love thy neighbors as themselves. Leviticus 19:18.
Part of that is true. Part of it happen out of due free will which God highly favors. God made man. Man shoots another man. Did God shoot the man? No the man shot the man. God made Lucifer as one of his greatest beings. He fell. He made Adam and Eve and what they did from their was free will. Would it be free will if God stopped everything? Then it isnt true love for him but plain fear. That isnt what God wants.
Oh goodie you found another contradiction! He says HERE that he is the beginning and end and that's that.....BUT thereafter he continues to alter things and the whole jesus story and so on.
Again. Can you fathom it? You can call it crap but think of a new color and tell me how easy it is. Also if he is Alpha and Omega he can do every through his omnipotence and omniscience which isnt a contradiction. That is him using his power. After all. You have God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
Not be in that spot at the same time hes in other spots. As in, can he retract himself from everywhere to only being, say, inside my refridgerator and NOWHERE else?
In your fridgerator? Sure. He is Alpha and Omega so he already knows what would happen and what will and was present and when he is in that fridge the same thing occurs. He still is Alpha amd Omega amd remains as he was. The great "I AM".
Lucifer X would have done what Lucifer Y, Z, A,B, C, and so on would have done out of pure will. He didnt make Satan do it. Satan just did it. Wiping memory? Not free will. Erasing him? Not free will. He didnt stand up to him he wanted to dethrone him. Thats like going up to the President of the United States and saying you will relinquish him of his spot and expecting not to get shot while doing so. What did you expect from God? Let Satan remain in heaven while Satan eternally tries to take over? Or get him out? You tell me which is logical.
And that being said god also knew that when he sent lucifer to hell that he would bring demons and cause all kinds of shit to happen to us but he also didnt prevent that.
Stop a demon and that isnt free will. You cant do everything you stated. That isnt free will.
Nothing happens without god's prior knowledge and intention. He made these things happen knowing full well the consequences. They didnt do anything they werent created to do.
You were created to remain pure. Adam and Eve sinned. If they were made to sin he would have made them with sin in the first place. Again this is free will.
You can argue this stuff up and down, left and right, doing all kinds of flips and mental gymnastics to get around the obvious flaws in the stories, contradictions, and absurdities but in the end none of it makes sense
Most flaws or contradictions are faults when it was transcribbed. Learnedthat quite easily. Scribe errors do occur.
None of it makes sense
Of course. In your opinion it may not.
And lest we forget that right above us is Cuaroc with 100 some odd other contradictions.
Oh yes. I hoped for you to say the "six days" thing. God is described as resting on the seventh day. The word translated as "day" is "yom" in Hebrew. It normally means a 24 hour day, but can also refer to an interval of indeterminate duration. I hoped for you to play the six day card.
indeterminate duration. as in, a duration of TIME. i thought he was outside of that? I dont care what a "day" is. it could be 100000years for all i care. its still a length of time that he had to make into 6 distinct groups.
Almost got me friend
adultery was the example employed into the main meaning of the verse which is:thinking about doing a sin is almost as if doing the sin.
What he did in the bible? Like flood the earth when everyone was in sin at the moment. Everybody. Everybody.
What the fuck? HE MADE US IMPERFECT. HE CAUSED THE SIN TO EXIST. and hes the one who made things "sins" in the first place! so how can you punish something for doing what is part of its innate composition? Thats like punishing a baby for teething!
Or what God did to job? Wait. No. I should be saying what Satan did to Job. My bad. No fault on God here besides setting that bar for faith.
The bible says quite clearly that Satan cant do anything without Gods permission and as such in the bible satan ASKS god to fuck up job and god lets him. It was a BET in all literal meaning of the word. Go to Darkmatter2525's channel and look up the video on Job.
Or sacrificing his only begotten son? Can you name another one of the best love acts he could have done? It isnt easy.
Sacrificing him...for sins he caused...as payment for forgiveness... and he cant just forgive? if hes all loving he shouldnt need to kill someone for that. God is not all powerfull, he cant do 1 thing: forgive.
Or when he send humans to hell? Oh wait. My bad again. Satan tempts you into hell. Hell was originally for Satan and his fallen angels. Sorry. Not on God.
god created hell and satan and knew everything that would happen. Hes also capable clearly of creating worlds. Why not make another world for the bad humans to go? Is he just lazy or retarded?
Umm. Lets see. How about the tower of babbel? I mean a one world language is easier right? Yep. Until it becomes a usable tool for corruption.
How the fuck? That was the dumbest thing ive ever heard! The humans were all working together and god fucked it up for literally no reason other than that he was afraid theyd stop kissing his ass. How can language become a tool for corruption? Thats like saying earlobes can be used as a tool for corruption. Everyone has em right?
Umm. Not really. Not at all actually. If you know all bad and all good you are at zero right? Now if you choose only the good actions you are truly good. Not bad.
BUT HE DOESNT. Holy shit are you blind? Can you not read? The bible condones SLAVERY. Just that one point alone. i dont even have to quote anything else. That immediately cancels out anything.
Morals are different for everybody. God said what he knows is right which is the opposite of bad making him good amd setting up that base for morals but truly we decide what we think is right or wrong. Most just so happen to parallel with what he said.
most of the time...until we decide that slavery ISNT ok. or rape ISNT ok. or blood sacrifice ISNT ok. or beating children ISNT ok. or incest ISNT ok.....do i need to go on?
God is a God of free will yes?
NOPE. free will is an illusion at the most within Christianity. God's omniscience disputes that entirely.
Satan didnt have a tree. He did have any fruit. He just sinned.
so god created him with pre-established knowledge of sin. OR he was just like adam and eve. totally unaware of his actions until afterwards. in either case you cant blame him and its still ultimately god's doing.
He flooded the earth because everybody was filled with sin. Everybody. How did he sin? By your logic there must have been a tree of some sort right? He wasnt mentally capable of doing so. So how did he sin?
The world flood was after adam and eve so at that time everyone had "inherited sin" and "knowledge of right and wrong"....
And also, that "world full of sinners" is horse shit. Now i dont even think the flood happened at all and neither should anyone with any common sense but that being said i dont think for one second that the entire human race was horrible criminals. i already said there were children and babies. how did they sin? And look at the world today. i guarantee were 100X worse than whatever they were back then seeing as atheism is on the rise and all the other stuff. the sabbath doesnt even really exist anymore, nobody cares. so wheres god?
Oh yes from the laws of the old testament? Yeah Christians cant follow anyone those really. God said to follow the laws of the land. Thus he even make sure we know rape and slavery are bad. Also as I said before those were the laws of old times.
Nope. wrong twice. theres a contradiction from cuarocs list above in which Jesus says to disreguard the old laws, and to obey them in another verse.
Also, Jesus tells slaves to obey their worldy masters as they would the lord. Thus, condoning slavery.
Mentally incapacitated when it comes to moral decision making! of course they could talk and eat and to stuff, but when it came to questions of right and wrong they were clueless. this being said, Eve could recite gods words 10000 times and it still doesnt make a difference because she has no idea what they mean. And thats why the serpent was so easily able to trick them into eating becaue they didnt know what right and wrong were.
Also, before you bring up the fact that God said "you will surely die". Death didnt exist either until they ate from the tree so they had NO idea what that meant either.
Whiped the knowledge from Adam amd Eve? Sure. Is that free will? No. He would have had to do the same thing as Satan and would not be a free will God so why ask? The second part of your statement is indeed your opinion.
They have no free will anyways. And god couldve easily fucked with their "free will" if they had any because he does so to phoaroh in Exodus. He hardens his heart so he doesnt let the jews out of egypt. Thus, no free will. they were created for the sole purpose of eating from that tree. Period. Satan is the same, he was only created to fall. Because god knew that would happen if he made them the way he did and didnt NOT make them or make them differently.
And the second part is a valid opinion because it is indeed the truth.
"long standing costoms" he created. He knew they would have and created them with. Also, he couldve easily send down a doctrine like the 10 commandments and he didnt.
Part of that is true. Part of it happen out of due free will which God highly favors. God made man. Man shoots another man.
God made the man knowing he would shoot the other. He intended it to happen. He couldve made man A not want or have a reason to shoot man B but he didnt. Its like putting to chinese fighter fish in the same bowl and saying them fighting isnt your fault.
Did God shoot the man? No the man shot the man. God made Lucifer as one of his greatest beings. He fell. He made Adam and Eve and what they did from their was free will. Would it be free will if God stopped everything? Then it isnt true love for him but plain fear. That isnt what God wants.
He attempted to threaten them with death! id say thats fear. And think of hell today, thats blatantly a fear factor. If god wanted people to love him he wouldnt fuck so much shit up.
Again. Can you fathom it? You can call it crap but think of a new color and tell me how easy it is.
But it isnt that hard. i could sit down and think of 100 different ways that god couldve done what he did and every one would be better than the jesus story.
Also if he is Alpha and Omega he can do every through his omnipotence and omniscience which isnt a contradiction. That is him using his power. After all. You have God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
If god cannot make a square circle then he is not all powerfull. If god cannot break the ties of contradiction then he is not all powerfull.
In your fridgerator? Sure. He is Alpha and Omega so he already knows what would happen and what will and was present and when he is in that fridge the same thing occurs. He still is Alpha amd Omega amd remains as he was. The great "I AM".
No, im talking about being ONLY in the fridge and having not the slightest clue what is going on outside of it. like if you were to be put in a fridge.
Lucifer X would have done what Lucifer Y, Z, A,B, C, and so on would have done out of pure will.
He didnt have to make lucifer at all. Also, there is no freaking free will. God made lucifer do what he did because he planned for him to do that from day one.
He didnt make Satan do it. Satan just did it. Wiping memory? Not free will. Erasing him? Not free will.
We've been over this. no free will. God plans and knows everything and fucks with it in the bible over and over. He clearly doesnt give a shit.
He didnt stand up to him he wanted to dethrone him.
and rightfully so! He clearly is an incompetent retard who doesnt even know how to use his own power.
Thats like going up to the President of the United States and saying you will relinquish him of his spot and expecting not to get shot while doing so
we have free speech and impeachment so we can do that. Also you wouldnt get shot, youd get taken away. And you certainly wouldnt be imprisoned and tortured for eternity. totally different scenarios
What did you expect from God? Let Satan remain in heaven while Satan eternally tries to take over? Or get him out? You tell me which is logical.
Not making him in the first place...
Stop a demon and that isnt free will. You cant do everything you stated. That isnt free will.
Free will. doesnt. exist.
And i wouldnt make demons in the first place if i was all powerfull.
You were created to remain pure. Adam and Eve sinned. If they were made to sin he would have made them with sin in the first place. Again this is free will.
So he doesnt want them to sin...but creates a tree with delicious fruit and a snake to tempt them into sinning...and then 2 peoples sins carry on thousands of years to today...makes sense
Most flaws or contradictions are faults when it was transcribbed. Learnedthat quite easily. Scribe errors do occur.
True. but theyre not all scribe errors. not at all. and this being said, how can we trust anything it says based on these contradictions, scribe errors or alterations, and mistranslations? we cant
Of course. In your opinion it may not.
If all of it honestly makes perfect sense to you then you're deluded.
Lets not forget about scribe errors.
among countless other things.
Im done with this argument. i dont want to write essays on how fucking retarded God and christianities design are and its really just obnoxious. its like debating the color of a unicorns horn. the question is silly. Unicorns arent real. likewise, none of this ever happened. or is real. its all hypothetical
I am sorry but you arent understand what the bible provides for itself. If free will doesnt exist how can I choose what I do and what not. Obviously he he didnt have to make Lucifer. The sin would eventually start somewhere. Punishing a baby for teething? That analogy doesnt fit. You say God cannot forgive and yet he says he already did and always will. I am sorry but you are just taking the bible word for word. You arent lining up the history, diction, syntax, rhetoric, metaphorical strategies, literary devices, scribe mistakes, ancient laws, rhetorical skills, etc; of the bible. You are just post opiniative things. Also I am sure if they understood the feeling of being "ashamed" then you understand other feelings to which can give you a small spectrum of right and wrong.

lol, i dont know about all the ones listed, but the ones I do know about are rediculous like "when did Jesus tantrum happen" lol, if those are the kind of arguments your using, this isnt even worth looking into.
Besides, according to your world view, why are contradictions bad? You use an argument based on (flawed) reasoning and yet the atheistic worldview cannot account for reasoning.

sure stay in denial if you want.

It is to show that your flawless book isn't flawless.
Ok, I looked up a few of the arguments you copy and pasted and I had a good laugh. Small word of advice, read what you post before you post it!
Here is what I found:
"Did a fish or a whale eat Jonah?" both passages you listed said "great fish" so...
"How many people saw Jesus ascension?" The passage from 1 Corinthians isn't necessarily talking about how many people were at the ascension.
"When did Jesus have his 'tantrum'" The book of John isn't in chronological order, it was written more as an essay rather then a historical account (even though the historical events mentioned are true).
and those are just the few I decided to waste my time on, I didn't read any others and I doubt they are any better.
Whoever made this list was either an idiot or very desperate to disprove the Bible.
I not going to waste my time going through lies some idiot put up on a website. I took a random sample of what you posted and they were easily debunked, why would I need to go through the rest of that crap? Oh yea, cuz someone who copies and pastes instead of thinks told me so.
think logically, if I came up to you with 400 arguments against evolution and you saw the first three were ignorant, idiotic arguments, would you really go through each and everyone and explain it to me? Don't waste my time, your list, by its ignorance, only proves what the Bible says "they suppress the truth in unrighteousness." It tells me that someone felt they needed to disprove the Bible, so they made a list of easy-to-refute arguments as a lame excuse because they don't WANT it to be true. That is all your pitiful list proves and I won't waste my time with it.
Other religions have contradictory beliefs too. I've wondered that about beliefs in general. I think it's natural for us to believe in contradictory material.
But my question is why you're only calling on the Christian doctrine as contradictory?
20 Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive.
Genesis 7:
2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth.
Two of every kind of bird and then in the next chapter 7 pairs of each kind of bird.
This is not a contradiction, chapter 6 is simply an overview of God's instructions to Noah, chapter 7 contains more detailed instructions about clean and unclean animals. Not a contradiction, just the way the Hebrew paragraphs are structured.
The birds are listed separately from the 'clean' and 'unclean' animals. It is a contradiction because it says 7 pairs of every kind of bird, but in chapter 6 it said 2 of every kind of bird. Which is it 7 or 2?
Gen 6:19 states, "And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female." Here we have God's instruction to Noah, that he was to bring one pair of "every living thing of all flesh" into the ark, and the purpose for that is said to have been "to keep them alive with thee" and therefore, "they shall be male and female". We learn that of all kinds of animals, Noah was to bring one pair, one male and one female, into the ark to ensure that they could multiply and continue to live later on. This included land animals as well as fowl of the air
Gen 7:2-3 state, "Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth." There is an important distinction made here, because Noah was here instructed not concerning "every anmial", but solely concerning "every CLEAN beast …" This instruction concerned only clean animals, and it simply was in addition to the previous mention of taking one pair for the purpose of keeping them alive. The additional pairs of only the clean animals were obviously taken along for a different purpose, because only one pair was sufficient and served the purpose to provide a means for to keep them alive. The purpose for seven pairs of the clean animals becomes clear later on when we read of Noh making sacrifices right after the flood, for had he not taken extra pairs of the clean animals he could not have made sacrifices to the LORD and at the same time kept those kinds of animals alive.
We therefore do not have a contradiction here, but rather see how there is one more general instruction concerning all animals for the purpose of keeping them alive, and then there is an additional instruction concerning only clean animals in order to provide for sacrifces and still keeping those kinds of animals alive.
You misquoted the verses big time, I suggest you read them...carefully. it dos not say "2 of every kind of bird" as you misquoted but rather it makes the statement that all the animals are to go in in pairs. It is simply the way the hebrew paragraphs are constructed.
While I haven't gone through every single example provided, I can say that the vast majority of them are translation errors. Unless of course you can point at these mistakes in the Greek and Hebrew texts...
Just because you can point out a few mistakes in a translated version of a document doesn't mean the original document must be false.
I can assure you that they are translation errors, if you search up the verses you quoted, experts agree that the contradictions are due to errors in translation.
ISA 14:21 Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.
DEU 24:16 The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
I know there are many translation errors or words the translators used to suit there own purposes at the time but not many Christians now can read the original texts only the translations and still follow them, so the question still remains why do Christians believe a contradictory Bible, or maybe the better question as we know there have been errors in translation why do Christians believe an incorrect Bible?
Not every Christian is a 'proper' (for want of a better word) Christian. Now I don't expect all Christians to read the original texts, but when they do come across a contradiction they should seek guidance on how to interpret it, which is what I tend to do, the manner in which I resolve the issue is by consulting others on whether such a contradiction means anything.
That makes sense to me, got a question research it and ask people, what I have never understood especially now that we know there are translation flaws are the people that just accept everything unquestiongly in the Bible as true ignoring any inconsistencies and saying that questioning what it says is wrong.

These arent. The first one spoke about the act of bearing the child which gave true meaning of pain. The second one is pre sin so the punishment of painful childbirth didnt exist then. The third one never spoke of pain. None of these really gave meaning to pain.
Yes, but why just one? You say moving process, but again, even if you resolve one, there are over 400 I see.
That makes for a far more complicated process, doesn't it? The fact that SO MANY exist in such a book is very disturbing and makes me doubt that it is very genuine or honest. I can't trust a book with so many contradiction.
Trying to MAKE it work is like forcing two puzzle pieces together.
Like for instance, the part in the Bible where Judas betrays Jesus.
In one part, it says that he goes to a field that he had bought with the blood money and falls face first into it, his stomach and chest having exploded inside him and now gushing out. Smote by God.
In another part, it says Judas is sorry and throws the money into a temple and hangs himself.
How can he be both punished by God in one part, dying a greedy traitor, while in another, he feels remorse and hangs himself?
There is no way to make this work without doing what I said to the puzzle pieces. You can pretend it can fit, but the truth is that it's so different, so contradictory that it can't work.
How can you resolve this without straight out lying to us or deluding yourself into thinking both are equally true?
It seems I have done research on your "contradiction".
Like for instance, the part in the Bible where Judas betrays Jesus. In one part, it says that he goes to a field that he had bought with the blood money and falls face first into it, his stomach and chest having exploded inside him and now gushing out. Smote by God.In another part, it says Judas is sorry and throws the money into a temple and hangs himself.
Now you probably need the verses too.
"Judas bought a field; there he fell headlong, his body burst open and all his intestines spilled out." Acts 1:18(NIV)
"So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself." Matthew 27:5 (NIV)
Here is your answer:
Under Jewish law, the handling of a dead body would make one temporarily unclean. Because Judas was said to have hung himself during the Passover before the Sabbath, it is very likely no one wanted to handle his corpse. Scientifically, we know if a body is not embalmed soon after death, the decomposition process will cause the corpse to accumulate gas. If Judas was left hanging, it is likely he remained in such a state until his body eventually bloated, causing the rope to snap and his corpse to fall and burst (notice the verse in Acts does not say this is how Judas died but only what happened to his body).Others speculate Matthew is using a literary technique and is not referring to a literal hanging but associating Judas with the traitor, Ahithophel, of the Old Testament.
A dead body would NOT gain weight. Bloat would be caused by gas, but it would NOT increase weight. It would likely decrease it if anything. I doubt the rope would snap before a month if it was able to support the snapping of a neck.
Not to mention, where is the difference in emotion? There is the smiting that god does, where Judas is wicked, and Judas where he smites HIMSELF, due to guilt.
What about that part? Also, it would make no sense for someone to notice what happens to Judas's body weeks or more after he hung himself. Why would they be keeping watch and writing down what happened?
And about his money. He either bought the field or he threw the money into a temple.
Yes, but why just one? You say moving process, but again, even if you resolve one, there are over 400 I see.
Yes I know. I wanted one so I could explain one. Then I would have asked for another until all 400+ "contradictions" disappeared. HoldTheMayo gave me one and I explained why it isnt.
That makes for a far more complicated process, doesn't it? The fact that SO MANY exist in such a book is very disturbing and makes me doubt that it is very genuine or honest. I can't trust a book with so many contradiction.
.....----> so many contradiction......... Sentences doesnt make sense. But I am overwhelmed.
Trying to MAKE it work is like forcing two puzzle pieces together.
Why force when you can just place the piece in its corresponding position with the second peace.
In one part, it says that he goes to a field that he had bought with the blood money and falls face first into it, his stomach and chest having exploded inside him and now gushing out. Smote by God
Do you know why he died? And the female died too?
In another part, it says Judas is sorry and throws the money into a temple and hangs himself. How can he be both punished by God in one part, dying a greedy traitor, while in another, he feels remorse and hangs himself?
Not sure. Provide me with the verses that say so. I want to see if I can understamd what it meant.
There is no way to make this work without doing what I said to the puzzle pieces. You can pretend it can fit, but the truth is that it's so different, so contradictory that it can't work.
Or like I said and just stick them together instead of struggling.
How can you resolve this without straight out lying to us or deluding yourself into thinking both are equally true?
Not sure. Let me see the verses. I need to read them.
The Bible is not contradictory. It continues to express that God is powerful and Jesus came to save the world. The differences in the Bible are there because several people attempted to capture the essence of God in their writings.
As I have explained in the last 10,000 debates about this same topic; If ten people witness a car wreck, you'll have ten different versions of that car wreck. What always remains the same is that there was a car wreck. The colors of the cars involved, the number of cars, what the bumper stick said on one of the cars, etc. is irrelevant to the story as a whole. Regardless of the contradictions in the witness' accounts, there was a car wreck.
Using your analogy of a car wreck, investigators normally sift through witness statements seperating the reliable from the non reliable to obtain the truth, this has not been done with the bible all we have is a big pile of witness statements some maybe more reliable than others, why then eveven though some contradict others are all these witness statements accepted as truth?
Thats not the point of the bible though. Just like he said these are collections of writings from different authors and most of those are scribal errors or translation errors.
Hmmm homestly I am not to sure. I feel as if I know alot about the points of each individual book more than the entire point of the bible. It may point to a higher being. It may have been perfectly designed by humans. It may have been set up by an alien race to control humanity. I am not sure.
If God is real the original writings could possibly have been his message to mankind but due to the amount of times it has been translated and it has been acknowledged that there have been errors in translation then this is no longer the same message. To me the Bible raises as many questions as it answers and is like a real life Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, it won't ever answer all of your questions explicitly but may point you in the right direction to find the answers if read with an open questioning mind.
I think the big question concerning this topic (to me anyway) isn't so much about the original texts (I haven't read them so they could say anything!!) but about why a lot of Christians insist on following without question a religious text as truth when it is flawed and contradictory due to mistakes in translation. I think the only way to reach enlightenment on a topic is to ask questions and I don't think religion should be exempt from this, maybe if more people questioned religion their own beliefs as well as others they may learn more about the world and the other people that live here rather than just hating on someone because of their beliefs
Ah I see. We I highly doubt anybody wants to study hebrew and greek just to read the original bible. I dont think many christian really take those steps of faith. Instead they follow the main points of the books. It isnt about how many soldiers were there or how many people died. It is about the message conveyed in the story.
I understand that, its just when you get people who are very vocal about things being right and wrong eg Homosexuality because it says so in the Bible, but none of us really know what the Bible actually said on these subjects because of the mistakes in translation. To me because of the inconsistencies in the Bible mainly due to mistakes in translation mean the correct or in this context more Christian attitude should be one of acceptance.
Acceptance to a certain degree of course. If they just accept everything the faith itself will be smashed. Like you said we dont know what exactly the bible say but we do know the point of each book or chapter.
When I say acceptance I meant acceptance of people, if the Bible is right Jesus accepted everyone regardless of race, ethnicity or health and I'm sure he would be shocked to find out that people were being discriminated against because of their religion or sexuality all in his name
Unfortunately a lot of Christians ignore that bit and go along with homosexuality being a sin, I've read recently of people getting disowned by their strict Christian parents for being gay stuff like that, that is also one of the errors I have debated with people many times as there is no word in ancient Greek or Hebrew for homosexual so the Bible actually does not explicitly state homosexuality being wrong, the phrases used were things like unnatural acts (to a homosexual, homosexual acts are natural anything else would be unnatural) and being unmanly (unmanly covers all sorts of things and I have met some very manly homosexuals and unmanly heterosexuals), also the texts referring to not lying with other men etc when read in context actually referred to heterosexuals and Pagans.
Exactly, when I was a kid I was taught that love thy neighbour and do unto others as you would have them do to you was the basis of Christianity and the most important part, I think some people need to get back to basics
Ashman, The Bible has been researched to the best one can do. It was written nearly 2000 years ago and so it is impossible to make everything in the Bible consistent. The Bible is left as it is because nobody knows what color the car actually is and it doesn't matter. If one changed the Bible to make it a smooth reading book, it wouldn't be a written account of what took place and how we are to act. It would read as a cheap novel and not what really happened.
This is a stupid question, like asking "have you stopped beating your wife yet?" it makes a presumption that has not been demonstrated therefore you created an unanswerable question.
The question asked should not be "why do Christians believe in a contradictory book" since that assumes an unestablished claim. The question should be "is the Bible a contradictory book"
its like asking a random person "when was your first son born?" when the real question should be "do you have a son?"
The columns said. Not sure or it doesnt contradict. She wanted to know why they do. She believes it does already. If you believed it didnt contradict then post on that side. If you arent sure why christians do so then post on the not sure side. Also she is french so give her some breathing room.
