Why do Christians believe 'the End is Near' When Bible clearly says otherwise

These are years in which well-known Christian leaders have predicted the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. And the are just the well known predictions from within my lifetime. Prior to that there were dozens of others, going all the way back to just after the birth of Christianity. No matter how much faith these leaders had, no matter how much they studied their Bible, they were all wrong.
But if they had REALLY studied their Bible, anyone past the first century would have known not to hold their breath.
“I tell you this: the present generation will live to see it all.” Mark 13:30, Jesus speaking to his followers
“before you have gone through all the towns of Israel the Son of Man will have come.” Matthew 10:23, Jesus after directing his disciples to preach the Gospel in Israel
“I tell you this: there are some of those standing here who will not taste death before they have seen the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” Matthew 16:28, Jesus, again to his disciples
“You will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of God and coming on the clouds of heaven.” Matthew 26:64, Jesus to high priest Caiaphas.
So yeah, unless he thought some of his followers and acquaintances would live to be over 2000 years old, he was clearly expecting to come back before some of the books of the New Testament were written.
But, to those of you praying for a rapture, don't worry, its not the end of the world :)

You contradicted yourself with your bible passages, amigo.

None of them refute the possibility that the End could come, say, tomorrow.

The one where JC said nobody from the present generation will live to see the End?

Well, so what?

That generation has been dead for over 2000 years!

Thus, though I never agree with them, those who for the past couple of hundred years have claimed that the End is near, that the Apocalypse is upon us, were NOT contradicting any Christian theology or biblical passage when they claimed this.

Thanks. Hope this helps.

Say what? None of those says that. The closest says “I tell you this: the present generation will live to see it all.” The exact opposite of your claim.

Read more carefully, amigo.

I read as well as any of you, and I stand by my point.

When JC said nobody among you will see it all he was referring to the generation of his disciples.

Thus, not to anybody in the 29th century.

So. Again, the Bible does not contradict End Time claims of this era.

Christians are idiots and do not know anything about the Bible. If they studied it more closely, they would realize that the Bible is a book of lies and contradictions.

Not all of the Bible is lies.

Some of it is just metaphor and allegory. Look those words up if you need to.

They were used to not be taken literally, as the fundies do, but to convey deeper truths too big and profound for mere everyday words and vernacular.

The contradictions also do not always mean the tale in question if false.

Rather, think of it like today when different people give conflicting accounts of, say, a traffic accident. Just becasue they do does that mean the event did not happen?

No.

The Bible was never meant to be a singular book, and is comprised of hundreds of old scrolls written by dozens of authors over hundreds of years. The very word bible comes from the Latin biblia, which means scrolls or books.

It's kinda like a year end clearance sale: buy now, or miss out. It's just a marketing ploy designed to motivate those who haven't bought to buy. Urgency is very important in sales.
