Why do people love to make generalizations?
Not all cops are corrupt, not all Christians are good nor bad, just as not every atheist is moral or amoral. I feel it just makes more sense to judge a person by their own actions than by the actions of the group they just happen to belong to.

It's more simple to assume you won't get along with those types of people, rather than taking the time to get to know every individual. Of course, this isn't always efficient either. Just because two people are Christians doesn't mean they'll get along, the chances are better because they'll share the same beliefs, but it could still end up as a waste of your time. People are obsessed with not wasting time, making generalizations helps cut down the time of getting to know someone. |
