Is it because He allows their ice cream cone to stay frozen longer on a hot summers day?
No.
Is it because He kisses their boo boos and makes the pain go away?
No.
Is it because He gave them an extra lolly pop to replace the last one ?
No.
Or is it because he loves perverts ?

Why do so many people love God ?
Because we believe there is something greater than all of us. I understand a lot of religious people rub others the wrong way, just like someone of any belief system or non-belief can. There may be no proof that you would accept, there may even be questions that we don't have answer for. You may call it following something blindly and for some it seems that way. It doesn't matter. Religion and the belief in God is deeply personal for a vast majority. What I've experienced in my life and what I believe causes me to know God's existence. Other may just want to believe that there is something else beyond this life other than dirt and worms. The belief I have in God is different than the one a few others on this site preach and honestly for that I'm thankful.
Because it's a fantasy, perhaps. I wish I could believe in god. By believing in god you beieve in an afterlife. You believe that everything 'bad' is because of some greater plan. Believing in god gives many a greater will to move forward and continue being moral and positive.
God, from a believers stand point, is an 'all-powerful, all-knowing, all-kind" being. It's believed that such a being would be incapable of creating a world containing unexplained evil, which is why everything bad would have to be explained via a 'greater plan' of sorts. Denying that would be falling into the 'argument of evil', which is one of the leading arguments disputing the existence of god.
The argument of evil has been debunked countless times and is a juvenile argument that shows no deeper understanding of reality.
In fact the argument from evil itself more or less proves there is a God via logic.
If there is no objective good or evil, then nothing 'bad' that happens in the world can be said to be 'evil' to begin with (which is what atheists such as Marquis de Sade admitted, who believed that rape, murder, and torture should be accepted since 'good and bad' are meaningless).
So if one is admitting that there are "bad" things in the world, then this proves there is a higher perfect objective truth or "God".
Since if the material world is all there is, it can't be 'good or bad' since "good and bad" mean nothing unless there is something to compare them to.
Just as if Tiger Woods was the only golfer in existence, he can't b a "good" or "bad" golfer.
So when atheists use the 'problem of evil' they're actually admitting there's a good and higher objective standard of good than men who do evil, which is why it's so funny to watch them flounder.
Here we are with yet one more bigoted anti God tirade against people who believe in God.
Can there be any bigger insecure hypocritical fools on the planet?
These total hypocrites speak to evils they believe God has done to others, and are the very ones supporting even no restriction abortions of our most defenseless babies.
They are either competely blind to their inhumanity, or they must demonize those who shine a light on their selfish inhumanity.
Which do you suppose it is?
If they were truly secure in their atheism, they woud simply live nd let live. They would not care one bit about what other people believed in.
The fact that they constantly fixate on Christians shows you how insecure and lost they are in their own personal beliefs.
These total hypocrites speak to evils they believe God has done to others, and are the very ones supporting even no restriction abortions of our most defenseless babies.
You support abortion twice as much as those people, you sick baby murderer.
Here we are I am getting commentary from the biggest two faced hypocrite on CD , who like his cowardly fellow American CD theists ban anyone who does not leave a fawning comment on his inane ramblings .
Now you hypocrite post remarks saying atheists are insecure and hilariously say " live and let live " yet castigate anyone and indeed ban them from making commentary on your narrow minded worldview , grow up you fucking prick with ears
Gee, why would any sane person ban foul mouthed bigots who constantly spew their hatred towards Christians?
Gee, I wonder why?
Maybe because their intelllect rivals five year olds. They are like the insecure bullies in the playground who feel so insecure about their own lives, they must demonize everyone else.
YOU TOTAL MINDLESS BIGOT. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE BANNED!
The only Atheists I call out are the idiots like you who constanty demonize Christians for absolutely NO REASON!
I have no problem with Atheists who live and let live without attacking people for their faith. it's the lowest form of humanity to be racists and bigots of people are are not the same skin color, or who believe in God.
Oh, and by the way, I will try never to address your future debates of bigoted hate. You do not deserve to even be ackowledged for your pure hatred. You are an attention grabber by spewing idiotic words of hatred.
But you're not sane :) and funnily enough I had a marvellous conversation with a Christian here last week you see the difference was he was willing to engage in a dialogue something that's alien to you .
Indeed It is you who demonstrates daily the intellect of the that so typical brain dead Christian hypocrite who finds fault in everyone except his fellow slack jawed cogregation who together have the intellect of a pot plant .
Here you go again with your live and let live you racist , bigoted , atheophobe ... you're still a prize prick with ears :)
So many people love God because He loved them first, while they were still His enemies. Remain God's enemy and believe you wont' end up on Hell, be a fool....oh, you are already proudly doing that.
Love is meaningless and a waste of time to evil god , you were given free will and yet choose to do good against evil gods teachings ..... there will be consequences :)
So you are wagering your soul against God, hoping to find the fire of Hell does not torment you forever. When did you decide to make that wager, Pasquale?
You say that God loves him, then you proceed to insult someone you say God loves? How's that going to work out for you in the end? Do you think your condemnations and your hubris is going to be looked favorably upon by the Lord?
So you are wagering your soul against God, hoping to find the fire of Hell does not torment you forever. When did you decide to make that wager, Pasquale?
So you are wagering your soul against God, hoping to find the fire of Hell does not torment you forever. When did you decide to make that wager, Pasquale?
I wager nothing. I know God Himself paid my price in death and His sinless blood covers my sin, and He is resurrected and lives forever and He is taking me through His death in and into His eternal life and Kingdom. I will serve Him gladly forever, and stand firmly on the solid rock of His promises. You can go on wagering all the way to Hell if you want to. God loves you and gives you the freedom to be a fool.
You don't believe that Jesus is God who could not be held in the ground by death and you do not believe He is risen from the dead bodily so your opinion of the faith of God is irrelevant. You invent a god which approves of being friends of witches and cannot punish sin in Hell. Too bad your god can't save you from Hell.
Your understanding of my belief wouldn't amount to a hill of beans. My faith is strong enough that being friends with people who believe different doesn't make me fear the differences. You still haven't answered the question.
Yeahhh I'm not going to click on any links from you without context or additions to a debate. Right now all you are trying to do is attack me so I have no desire to see any links that will provide nothing of relevance to me.
The thing you call "Christ" is not Jesus Christ of the Bible who is God the Son sent by the Father to die for the sins of man and now lives, bodily risen from the dead, the same body crucified, the same Son of God, alive forever more and God always has and always will hate witchcraft and you believe none of these basics of the faith of God in Jesus Christ which is true Christianity yet you pretend to be a Christian in order to gain acceptance for your weird brand of spirituality which is inspired by demons from Hell.
2) They were told terrible things will happen to those who don't
3) The hope or future promised, whether true or not, is preferable to them over one less reason to have hope, and no future promised.
4) For a sense of belonging
5) For excuses (many different kinds, for many different things)
6) For necessities (if they believe in a rain god, harvest god, etc)
7) For the spectacle of it (the buildings, art, services, etc)
8) For the fascination with oddity (life is pretty normal, but then you stop to think about magic and wonder and unspeakable power, and odd twists of fate, and your normal life suddenly seems extraordinary).
So you are wagering your soul against God, hoping to find the fire of Hell does not torment you forever. When did you decide to make that wager, Pasquale?
Your reason is number 2 on my list. Which is the lamest reason out of the whole list. It's basically you're afraid of Hell. I'm not going to follow you down a path of fear and ignorance.
Your brother is playing Pascals Wager which is always a losing bet. You are also playing that wager though you don't want to admit it. You're losing anyways, losing all in death, losing your soul the same as your brother is losing His soul trying to Wager with God thinking that eternal life can be earned. Your dying brother proves by His dying the same as you are proving by yours that you cannot earn eternal life, you can't work your way out of death. You and your brother are both losers, both playing Pascals Wager.
Pascal's Wager is always a losing bet even if the Pope is playing it. You cannot be good enough to earn acceptance into Heaven. You, Grenadee, think that you are good enough to exist outside of Hell. You are wagering your soul against God in a losing bet. The bet was lost before you even placed the wager, you never had the right to live and you can never earn the right to be in Heaven. I think you know that you cannot be good enough to enter Heaven, but you can be good enough to make yourself feel like you are not bad enough to be held in Hell by God forever.
Pascal's Wager is a losing bet, lost before it started no matter how good anybody thinks they are playing the bet. They lost the right to live before the bet was made and cannot earn the right to live in Heaven by trying to wager good.
You claim you are not afraid of Hell. Fine. Neither am I, my sins are all forgiven and have been paid for entirely by God Himself with His sinless blood. Because He lives and I returned to God seeking mercy for the resurrected Savior, He gave me a new life by His Spirit and He now is my life, He gave me eternal life, I am saved from Hell, I do not fear Hell, I can swing over Hell hanging from a thread and not fear it, the Savior has saved me from it. I cannot earn the right to be in Heaven, God Has made the way for me (and for you but you are to stinking proud to admit you don't deserve to live outside of Hell), and that way is through Jesus Christ in whom I am secured in eternal life, I'm on my way to Heaven where there is a place prepared for me by the Savior.
You don't have to be afraid of Hell. Just have a glass of wine and forget it. You're a fool, you are going to wake up in Hell.....but don't be afraid, be proud and strong and keep on telling yourself there is no Hell and you are not bad enough to deserve it anyways. All you have is dying so you might as well have a glass of wine and enjoy it while you can. You're just a punk. A wino punk fool.
You've always been nothing but a punk with me, a big cry baby who whines when banned. Boo hoo. You think I want to put up with your attitude and nonsense? I don't recall ONE post you made in reply to me which was anything but an insult or a whiny little cry baby rant about why you feel I should put up with your jack ass (that's a donkey, stubborn) nonsense.
The debate here is not about why people love God, the thing that the hater here is talking about is "god" and whatever that is, it is not God...it's something that is not good, is not the creator of all things....it's more like the Filleting Spaghetti Monster or The Force of Star Trek.
PEOPLE LOVE god BECAUSE IT IS A THING WHICH IS NOT GOD, AND THEY CAN ASCRIBE EVIL CHARACTERISTICS TO IT AND SAY THAT THE god THEY HAVE CREATED, THEIR CONSCIOUSLY CREATED STRAW MAN, CANNOT BE GOD. SINCE THEY CANNOT CREATE GOD AND DO NOT WANT HIM TO RULE OVER THEM, THEY CREATE A god WHICH THEY LOVE BECAUSE THEY FEEL IT EXONERATES THEM IN DEATH. THEY LOVE god BECAUSE THEY LOVE DEATH, HOPING DEATH GETS THEM OUT OF REALITY SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE EVILS THEY ARE CHAINED TO IN THEIR DYING DAYS.
They could be saved by God the Savior but they think death saves them from God, and they worship their dying as if it saves them. It's a completely twisted evil way of thinking, and it breeds sexual perversions of all sorts, drunkenness and drugs, lust for power and money, murders, despite of authority.....a completely self centered and self promoting cynicism driven by pride all the way to the ever-burning garbage pit of Hell where the bones of the wicked make it a good fire, or what the French would say is "bon" testifying for those who love God that He is good in confining evil in prison of fire as it's passion forever burns against God and the smoke of their torments rises forever and ever and ever. Amen. That's good preaching. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Bonfire has as much to do with "good" as Bon Jovi does. Why do you keep bringing up that as an example.
"Everyone listen!!! Hell is like the word Hellopy - the zwahili word for cock muncher. Does that mean that NowASaint and the other cockmunchers should go there? Amen.
So you are wagering your soul against God, hoping to find the fire of Hell is not what the French call "bon" which is French for "good", for those who are living with God outside of Hell, and that it does not torment you forever.
If you insist on using the commonly accepted derivation of the word "bonfire" from the burning of bones in times past so it's a "bonefire" is it not still a good, or as the French say, "bon", fire....good for those who are forgiven of their sins as the eternal smoke rising while the bones of the wicked smolder forever testifies to the goodness and righteousness of God in that He does not allow evil to go unpunished?
God is just one variation on the ideological superstition people employ to induce a belief in themselves that they are in control and that their lives have meaning. The conscious mind is a tragedy of evolution that destines us to be psychologically underdeveloped for coping with the actuality of a reality antagonistic to the existence and self we are disposed to value.
Your right on with most of that. But the "being in control" part seems opposite for me. Its seems like believers know they are not in control and want to think that someone (god) is. Even though I've stopped believing, I still have trouble with, but accept, the idea that the me in my head will someday just cease.
A sound distinction. I think that it's still a form of creating control over existence, though, even if it isn't control they themselves hold. There is a reassurance, still, in the belief that a god controls things versus existence being arbitrary and under the control of nothing deliberate. So, although the control is externalized it is still engaged to create a sense of control in one's life.
I think I'm quite reconciled with not existing some day. I'm not overly enthusiastic about existence, though, so that probably helps. ;) Out of curiosity, do you also have trouble with the idea of your pre-birth non-existence?
It's because many 'internet' atheists are uneducated and don't understand abstract and philosophical concepts.
Since atheists tend to only think in terms of the material world, they don't understand deeper understandings of things, and picture god as some "beared man in the sky snapping his fingers and making it rain" or something.
Though this is how paganistic and polytheistic religions, such as that of the ancient Greeks viewed their Gods. Not how monotheistic religions do.
The monotheistic faiths such as Christianity and Buddhism understand that God's presence ties in with the formal laws and sciences of the universe, logic, mathematics, aesthetics, rather than the mere external or material aspects of the universe.
They understand that the universe of course operates according to objective natural and formal laws, and that love of God and natural order naturally results in happiness and inner peace, or good karma as Buddhism defines it.
---
So to be honest it's not worth arguing with atheists who only think of God in terms of a physical being made of flesh, since they clearly lack the abstract thought to understand deeper concepts in philosophy and spirituality.
