Why do we not have the right to our own death?

The government claims we have the right to our life, but without the right to our death, we don't have the right to our life. How can they take away that right? Is it oppression?

Because you do not own yourself. The government and the people around you own you.

How is that fair, we didn't ask to be born to this city, yet they automatically claim dominion over us. How can any society preach freedoms when they, as you said, own their citizens.

It's not ment to be fair. You are expected to obey and be a good slave. Look at the prisoners in Guantanamo. Tried to starve themselves to death as of late and they are now force feeding them with tubes. Some media went off on it claiming it was torture. It's no different in society. This once flourishing utopia is now a federal prison. America especially preaches freedom but does the opposite. Canada happens to be one of the safer countries to be in right now.

How do they do it? Well, the law, propaganda, people believing the government is their friend, people who know the corruption doing nothing to stop it and it all starts at birth with a birth certificate.

But don't worry, a shot-gun would do the trick just fine. :) oh.. yeah, being suicidal is a mental disorder and they might not beable to buy a gun soon. It's actually quite hilarious.

"the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness"

"the right to life"

"life"

We also have the right to bear arms, but does that mean we have to? no. i dont own one and dont really plan to. And the government doesnt make me get one. And we have the right to freedom of religion...but i abstain from religion, but the government still protects that. So why when it comes to the right to life that we get wishy washy? If i want to die, i should be able to die! Of course you'd look into mental and social health first to determine if it's warranted, but if someone's terminally ill, or in great pain, or just an old widow with no family or friends left then they should be able to die if they so choose.

In the same way the governments seem to treat us all like children. We don't know what's best for us, they do.

(I'm sure the picture is amazing, but I can't see it!)

I've wondered about the right to death when you're convicted of a crime. If you're going to get either life in prison or the death penalty, can you request to skip the sentencing and just get the death penalty? Or if you get life in prison, can you say no, I want the death penalty?

Who says that we do not have the right to our own death? Can anyone really stop you from committing suicide? ;)

Yes, the police and the mental health system. .

If the police and the mental health system can prevent you from committing suicide, then you are not being creative enough ;)

Laws against suicide began during the Feudal period in Britain when the death of a tax-paying peasant would deprive the monarch of tax revenue. The same holds true today that your suicide is a form of tax evasion.

What if you're not evading taxes. What if your debts are settled, you have no family, and you just don't want to be alive. Why can't you legally end it?

Historically, if you were physically capable of working, then you SHOULD have been working and you would have been evading taxes if you were to suicide. If, on the other hand, you were incapable of working due to mental or physical illness, infirmity, or incapacity; no none really cared if you were to suicide. Although, historically, you were more likely to go out due to disease anyway.

Well, anyone who is caught doing so automatically is punished. You could succeed illegally (obviously), but it is NOT worth the risk. The Bible actually says that if you kill yourself you fit under the category of selfish because you let all your loved ones down and everyone who you would one day help. And it says an unselfish person would stay to accomplish their purpose in this world to help others (I think I'm agnostic). However, that's not the government's philosophy despite probably being one thing they've said so far. The reason the government doesn't want suicide is because of something that falls under the government being a lying corporation:

They want population control. They want to be able to decide who lives and dies. Why? They want to keep the majority alive long enough to make money. Then, they want to have most of us die of unhealthy chemicals so that they can make us all consumers of their products. That's why they support Monsanto in the quest to force GMOs down everyone's throats. That's why most people eat at fast food joints, such as McDonalds or In and Out all of the time (yes, In and Out has MORE GMOs, especially in their cottonseed oil. Look it up.)

The government does tons of other stuff besides food, not just for population control. They put fake messages into the media. They do tons more.

I understand this is a tangent but I'll get back on topic soon. Just one more thing.

It's easy for them to do this because of the sodium fluoride in the water supply. They say it retards cavities, but really a million things will do that also. It really sedates you and makes you passive.

What happens to someone who tries to disobey or protest and be smart (e.g. commit suicide)? They have to be punished and painted as "evil" or a "criminal" or if not, "stupid" or "uneducated" for not believing in "America the Beautiful" especially in "Our wonderful government." The truth is these people are actually smarter and more informed than almost everyone else. Laws against suicide are fine with me, but not to be dealt with the way the government does. I think it should be medical help only, NO PUNISHMENT. The punishment changes from state to state but it's basically forced medical treatment and probably a fine.

When a death is suspicious, an autopsy can be ordered. I guess no one really owns their body after death.
