You could have a point there. Macron could have been keen to try to stop a nuclear war just in the same way that Neville Chamberlain thought that by appeasing Hitler he could avoid WW2. Every military historian asserts that had the Western powers confronted Hitler before he had had the opportunity to construct the most powerful military force in the world WW2 may have been averted or at least resulted in a significantly reduced death toll.
