Why is sexism allowed to run rampant on the Internet and TV these days

Why is there so much sexism on the Internet and TV in this modern day and age?  I asked a question"  What sort of guys are girls looking for,"online  and the only kind of answer I got (for the most part) was...."How to be the sort of girl guys are looking for."  I couldn't believe it.....like what "men want" is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than what "women want?"  What kind of BS is that?  Pathetic!

On TV, I saw a Direct TV commercial just today where a mostly naked women in a tiny bikini on a horse is advertising....WHAAAAT....DIRECT TV????  What the heck does an almost exposed crotch have to do with direct TV?????  Why isn't there a half naked guy with a bit of his package almost poking out advertising Direct TV????  Because...it's all for men's delight, and men wouldn't like that (well, maybe except for gay men).

The whole idea that women are just objects, adornments, and sexual products and lures is something women faught against for years.  And now women are back to being objects, adornments and sexual products and lures for men to pick and choose - or not.  Women have willingly given all power over to men.

If racism is illegal - why isn't sexism?  And why don't women care that they have now put themselves back in the position of "having a shelf life?" and men don't?

If we go back a few decades sexual contact in the movies and TV was simply not seen and as the kiss etc etc was about to begin the participants would lower themselves out of view as the picture simply blurred and faded away to leave what was about to happen to the viewers imagination.

Gratuitous or explicit sex was simply not a part of the visual plot, however, times have changed and as we explore our democratic freedoms exposure to sex, violence and language have become an integral part of what we see around us and watch on the movies and TV.

Some would argue this is unnecessary whilst there are those who do not see it as wrong, though it gives those who would criticise the ammunition to condemn it as an insidious degradation of our culture those who advocate social political correctness try to encourage a more even approach to what we say and do.

Society is changing and this has been gradually coming with us for decades so if the censors allow it, if we don't like it, avoid it, just don't watch it or turn it off.

I agree there is too much sexism, especially against women, but times are changing. I've seen a lot of female celebrities are starting to fight against the sexism. Like when Anne Hathaway was asked how she lost weight to play Catwoman, she explained that the size she got to as catwoman wasn't healthy and girls shouldn't emulate that. When Scarlett Johansonn was asked about how she got into shape to play Black Widow, I believe she called out the interviewer and stated that they never ask that question to men. Too much sexism now, but I don't think it will stay this way for long. Just keep fighting the fight and calling out sexist people and misogynists.

Taking advantage of the fact that most males react favorably to an attractive female image for marketing purposes does not constitute holding the position that females are ONLY useful for attracting males. It simply acknowledges that, among other things, females are useful for attracting males.

What about professional athletes? They get attention based on their athletic accomplishments. Does employing a male professional athlete to sell a product mean that you hold the stance that males are only useful for sports?

While some feminists want to suppress the objectification of women so that they will be viewed as equals, other feminists want to use sexuality as a tool of empowerment. This leads to a philosophical contradiction within feminism. This debate illustrates this problem.

I don't personally believe that feminine sexual expression leads to general objectification. Nor do I believe that upholding healthy and wealthy looking males as the ideal is offensive or sexist against men.

We should avoid being concerned with what we allow others to express.

If you are talking about your google search results, that has more to do with the google search engine. It might indicate that guys use google for love life advice much more than girls.

Men are objectified too.

Gender and racial discrimination are both illegal.

Objectification is not illegal.

Sex does not actually sell. Controversy does sell. Brand recognition and brand recall increase with good and bad publicity. The fact that you recalled DirectTV and are discussing its brand online shows that their marketing strategy is working.
