Why is the last day of the weekEND the FIRST day of the week?

People almost always think about a week as starting with Monday and ending with the weekend. That's why it's called the weekend, because it's at the end of the week. So, given the way we do calanders, why isn't Sunday called, say, "Weekstart," (or something) since it preceds the week?

The week has to be surrounded by its weekends. If the calendar had Monday first the front end wouldn't be covered by a weekend.

Good idea! Sunday should be the day designated as "Week Start." Since a calendar does have Sunday starting off the week, it is only right and proper that Sunday not be designated as the week's end.

HAHAHAHA! I never realised that! ;) Just learnt a new thing..
