Why the left loses every gun debate on social media
By U.S. Army definition, a selective-fire rifle chambered for a cartridge of intermediate power. If applied to any semi-automatic firearm regardless of its cosmetic similarity to a true assault rifle, the term is incorrect.

Yeah, conflating the terms "assault rifle" and "assault weapon" - the latter not having a standard definition - is one reason, but in general the reason is due to a lack of functional knowledge of weapons, violence, and the law surrounding either. I have yet to meet an anti gunner with a respectable answer for what they will do if someone shows up at their home with a hammer and the intent to cave in their skull.

... what they will do if someone shows up at their home with a hammer and the intent to cave in their skull.
An assault rifle is no different than my 30/30 carbine. If some guy shows up at my door intent on harming me or my family, I'll SHOOT the fucker.
Nobody, that would be NOBODY is proposing that my rifle be made illegal.
An assault rifle is no different than my 30/30 carbine.
Actually it is. For a lot of reasons. See the definition of "Assault Rifle". And if youdo have an assault rifle in 30/30, I really want to see it. However, so would the ATF, so don't actually show it to anyone.
And second, if you think that "nobody" is proposing your rifle be made illegal, you aren't paying attention. Yes, there are dipshit college kids out there who get a self-righteous erection over crowing "ban all guns", but there are politicians who get just as excited as the thought, even if they can't tell their constituents too loudly. How do we know? Because these fuckers keep demanding "compromise". Why won't we "compromise"? 'You extremist, you zealot, you won't "compromise", you won't meet us in the middle', they say.
Fuck compromise. We've been compromising since 1934. Every fucking time, the definition of compromise is changed from "an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions" to "we want to take everything, but we'll only take these guns" while we get nothing in return. Then in six months when it doesn't fucking work, like we told them it wouldn't, they're back demanding more "compromise" until... Well, until they're demanding your 30/30. You don't live in California, do you?
But! 2 step means-end verification has been struck down as a legal structure as of last Thursday, motherfucker. Plaintiff's printers are on fucking fire at the NRA, GOA, SAF, and other gun rights organizations you've never even heard of. And when they come to sue states to recognize the new standard of "text, history, and traditions" to strike down assault weapons bans, magazine bans, carry bans, you name it, the blazing catchphrase will be NO FUCKING COMPROMISE.
NYSRPA v. Bruen is the beginning, we're looking at the end of an era for gun control.
