Why would you go to a self-defense class?

Tongue OutSmileLearning self-defense or showing off your strength. I think personally self-defense doesn't matter because now they have guns....!(common sense) Maybe some of u really want to learn self-defense....Now do u?SmileTongue Out

I really don't care about self defense but I wouldn't mind a couple of tips in one quick lesson.

A couple of "tips in one quick lesson" will do you no good insofar as enabling yourself to defend yourself while unarmed.

In fact it might even get you in more trouble than if you hadn't ever even tried to learn anything. LOL. Because... you might try to unleash a lame, half-speed, sloppy kick, and then get caught with your leg in the air, making you very vulnerable for a nasty counter-strike. Also piss-off your attacker, who decides to show a lesson to somebody who thinks they know something about the martial arts.

Self-defense classes are great. They build conditioning, stamina, strength and self-confidence. Especially the true martial arts-type classes like Karate; King Fu; Tae kwon Do; and Jujitsu, which also have a mental discipline and a philosophical aspect to them.

I am currently taking a class in Krav Maga. It's not so much as a true martial art, like those I mentioned above. None of that "Ahh grasshopper; you must learn to look inside yourself in order to....." LOL.

Nope. Krav Maga is pure, nasty, street-fighting self-defense and quick attack methods. Striking at vulnerable areas. Disabling your attacker. Or multiple attackers. It's the chosen martial art system of the Mossad--the Israeli Special Forces guys. (It's pronounced: Krahv- Muh-GAHH).

Let me know if you have any questions on it or any other sort of self-defense or martial art disciplinary, as you sound a little confused on the subject and its merits and advantages.
