2. China will become a superpower, its not a matter of if, its a matter of when. However, they face two problems, economic problems and the people getting fed up with their government.
The balance of power is shifting. China has the population, and the will to become a new superpower. If problems such as overpopulation etc. can be overcome then China will be a force to be reckoned with. And if this happens, tensions will mount substantially. This is because modern Japan and pre WWII China are similar in a variety of ways. Both nations were state-capitalist, both were running out of resources, and like Japan, China will have to expand in the South Pacific region in order to meet the growing need for resources. Naturally, the other Pacific power, the US, will not like this and a defacto cold war will escalate.
I'm inclined to think that China might already BE a superpower. The US is in financial debt to China to the sum of 1.1 trillion U.S. dollars (see source). It is inevitable that China's power will continue to rise. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, I'll wait and see. However, like all empires of the past, China will eventually collapse as the U.S. has begun its collapse.
China is basically a Superpower, and my favorite. But unfortunately they face both economic and, well, problems on how the world views them. And there will be no Cold War, China is a weakling compared to the USSR, they are not as equal, just merely a discombobulated version of the USSR. Look at "their" weapons, USSR copies, the only descent weapon they have made is the QBZ-95.
China's GDP is growing quickly, but superpower status is not imminent. It will collapse as all great powers do. There is already an economic cold war going on between China and the U.S., though.
They try so hard to get other countries which is not really that beneficial to them. They just want to invade some places that is not even theirs. Hence, many countries get mad at them.. I liked China before, but then, these acts made me realize that there is such a thing more than power. And it is respecting what other people have.
Who have China invaded recently the only two countries I could find that they have invaded "recently" are Cambodia many times the last was in the 80's and Tibet in the 50's.
Well.. they tried to get whats ours.. One part of our country.. which they think is theirs, but not really, cause it's closer to our country, which is Philippines.
Well, they tried to get one part of our country, which they think is theirs.. It is closer to our country, and that place, Scarborough Shoal, is long written in the history of our country, which is Philippines. They even sent ships from their country, and seeing that we Filipinos are far less prepared to have a war.. You know, they tried to get it.. Irritating by the way.
Ah the Scarborough Shoal and their alledged defense of Fishermen who were "refuging" from a storm although they were more likely to have been poaching, I understand now although not technically an invasion they are definately flexing their muscles in that area, which has gotta be worrying for the Phillipines because your Navy are pretty much underequipped compared to China
Yeah, actually, it was quite worrying us, seeing that we dont have the state of the art technology when it comes to guns and boats like them. Also, we are far less ready to go into another war when our own problems here cannot be solved. Compared to us, they have a bigger army? Is that what they call it? While here, there's not really much soldiers. We just have a small country, and yet they were trying to think that it was theirs even if it is SOOO far away from their country.Besides, they were trying to get the land's resources, so I think that THAT would be a great cause of alarm for us.
