Oh, you mean like George W. Bush did with both Congresses...with the majority from both parties? It's not going to happen and I would be shocked if it did. I'm not being naive, this is what I truly believe will happen especially with the new Congress coming in. Barack Obama and Joe Biden know how to work in a bi-partisan fashion and I really believe they're going to bring Congress up a few notches on the responsibility ladder. I'm getting tired of the cynics and the nay-sayers. Do you truly believe in your wildest dreams that this man is not going to veto a bill that is put on his desk and bloated beyond belief with add-ons that don't belong there? Of course he will and I don't think the big word "POWER" is going to go to his head or Congresses heads. They still need to work together to hammer out differences and put up the best legislation they can to get it passed. Your mission, Kukla, if you decide to accept it, is to get thePyg to change his mind and stop being so cynical all the time! Side: It's NOT going to happen

Nicely said! The whole idea that our government was founded on was not one individual or group to have too much power...Democrats, at this point, have too much power. America, until publicly stated otherwise, calls itself a democracy. Hopefully, democrats will utilize their power for good, not evil...Well, you have to catch the metaphor.... Side: Absolutely

One of the rarest things in human history is for people who acquire vast power to surrender it. They may claim they're going to do so at first, but will decide once it's upon them that they know best, and that they can use this power for their good intentions, aka their agenda, whatever it may be. Side: Absolutely
it will be stupid if they didn't. here they have full power. they can cut funding for the troops, they can raise taxes as much as they want, they can do pretty much anything they want because their is no majikal veto power from Bush Boy. if they don't get what they wanted done within the next two years, a lot of Dems are gonna be pissed. Most PEOPLE, Dem or Rep will be very pissed. I know it's difficult not to take advantage of an advantageous moment but not everyone thinks the way you do. I do believe there are people inside and outside the walls of government who will try to do the right thing despite their majority. I'm not that cynical or pessimistic. Side: No Worries
isn't it being pessimistic if you think your own party will not take this opportunity to do the things i listed? that is why you voted them in... right? Republicans won't be pissed if the Democrats don't bring real change at this time... they'll actually be wiping the sweat from their forehead. on the other hand, all the Dems (and basically the others who voted for them) will be very pissed that the people they voted in didn't do what they voted them in for.
