Should Canada tighten their jailing laws?

It seems that many major crime figures are getting out of jail, even whne they should still be in jail? What do you think?

I think we would need some more specific examples. For one thing we would really need to know the details of these cases you speak of. I am familiar with the justice system from having been dragged through it. I was charged and found innocent of those charges, but in the two years it took to resolve that I communicated to my partner which my bail conditions forbade, because she was distraught. For that I have a criminal record and now with the new omnibus bill coming in I will need to wait five years instead of three because laws are being tightened up. I am a big risk. I didn't do anything wrong except love someone and when i was told to be apart from her for two years I said no wit my actions.

What exactly were you charged with? If you don't mind me asking?

Well I really don't mind, but often times these things will go misunderstood. I was charged with sexual exploitation and weapons dangerous. Sexual exploitation involves a case when the age of consent is raised due to circumstances. Basically me and my then GF were going to China to meet the maternal side of her family that her father had cut her off from. Homeland security stopped us at the airport due to the age issue. There was no complaint from her family. They were well aware of this and the weapon charge stemmed from a family heirloom that once was a small pistol, but had been properly made inoperative. The item was in my luggage by accident. My then GF was fully supportive, in fact no one really made any claims of any wrongdoing other than the police.

My examples would be murderers, rapists, gang members, etc serving only a few years and then walking the street. That bothers me. Did the crime, do the time
