Would You Die For Your Country Today? Yes/No and why?

Would you die for your country today?
Yes/No, state why.

Yes, I would

Yes, but not carte blanche. I'm not going to rush enemy lines just because my country wants to use me as cannon fodder. But if, for example, grabbing an explosive and jumping to my death would somehow spare my family, city, and nation from a much worse outcome, then I'd jump. Granted a big part of that scenario is my family included. Because if instead my family was nowhere nearby and the city I would be saving was Little Rock, Arkansas, then I don't think I would.

If the cause was to defend my country from a legitimate threat to our safety and well-being, then yes, I would.

I have already put my life in harm's way for my country, btw, doing two tours in OIF with the US Army as a 19 Kilo, from 2004-'05.

It was an honor and a privilege to serve.

The reason why I ask this question is because what your country stands for today might be different than what it used to stand for in the past. So would people still sacrifice their lives for their country if they actually knew what it their country has become today (rhetorical question)

I think that the brave men and women in the past died for noble causes but didn't actually know that they may have fought for something unbeknownst to them.
