I think that schools in the US should have armed guards, in light of the history of massacres that have taken place.

In the last decade, school shootings were responsible for less than 100 deaths.

Should we not spend such resources on things that lead to far, far more deaths every year?

Should some school taxes which are paid by homeowners and businesses not go to the protection of children in "Gun Free Zones" ? Are you against that ?

Even a dozen deaths in school shootings over a decade is way too many.

And if your kid were one one of the deaths, you would say that ONE is too many.

So I would say that yes, we should spend money and resources on correcting other dangerous practices that cause more deaths, and also spend the money on armed guards for schools as well, Why not do both? After all, the money spent for guards art schools would be a drop in the bucket, financially speaking. Compared to say, the billions spent on useless pork barrel projects like useless holes in the ground or highways leading to nowhere.

I think students need and deserve to be protected from the sort of America which the politicians, past and present, have created. For such a question to be asked is an indictment on successive administrations.

There are other nonviolent ways to protect students. Violence is not the answer.

Armed security needs to be at the "Gun Free Zones" that is not a question !

Side: Yes

Yes. Does that mean we should? No. Who pays for these patrolling guards? Simple solution to this is stop having gun free zones so teachers who want to can carry to school

Yes. I would feel safe because the guards could protect against mass shootinbgs and other violence.

Where I live I'd feel safer with an armed guard patrolling around my home.

People only look at the perspective of an armed guard stopping a school massacre or something of that realm.

What about all these little f*ckers, some who have virtually no parental guidance and are constantly causing low paid teachers trouble, and picking fights with students. People thought my generation (the 90's kids) were in for a world of hurt. These millennials feel entitled anything and everything, you can't say one damn thing to these kids without them crying and pulling out a gun. Whatever happened to spanking your children, or smacking them across the face, and the child would respect their parents and go sit in their room and re-evaluate the behavior they have portrayed. Now days kids pout and whine, resort to drugs, alcohol and violence...

Having armed guards in schools would not be a bad idea, dress them up as a janitor, have the guard mop the floors and keep an eye in the hallways during class intermissions. Nobody needs to know there is an armed guard there.

I know I would definitely feel safer. We only have a security staff of about 4-6 people and one police officer at our school. There was an incident just last year in my school where we were on lockdown for an hour because a kid fired a gun in the school. I feel that the more people there are in the school, the less likely for bad things to happen and/or get out of hand.

I would feel safer because if there was ever a shooting I would rather their be a few police officers that can take care of the situation instead of having to wait on that fateful day when there is a shooting and having to wait for the police officers to show up.

I'm not very sure why but I would feel less safe and more uncomfortable with armed guards at school.

The last study done of police officer accuracy rates put the national average at 17.8%.

I don't blame you.

By your assumption are you saying it is better to have targets in a "Gun Free Zone " ?

Mariel you know that we are allies so please do not take this personally.

No I would be scared out of my mind, do you realise how much that would terrify children it could traumatise them. Seriously Imagen a armed man with a gun and he was patrolling every part of the school. What if the kid was running away the solider would chase them and that would scare the child (it would be a nightmare!)

I would feel watched and uncomfortable with strange, mysterious, secretive men in suits with sunglasses and earpieces watching me and reporting my every move. This is a terrible idea. This would make children feel watched and restricted, even among friends.

No i wouldn't feel safer with armed guards around my school because you're giving people access to guns, and if they decided that they for some reason felt the need to shoot someone, the have a gun right there to shoot you with. Also guns just make me feel uncomfortable and unsafe.
