Would the end of the banning feature prompt you to leave the site?

Just curious.  Because I see lots of mockery comments from the banners saying stop whining, this is how the site operates, this is why it's better than other sites, etc.  But if fate flipped the switch the other way would they jump?

In a heart beat I would leave this site if they eliminted the ability to ban deceptive liars and childish idiots!

The only people who worry about the ban feature are those who get banned for being deceptive or childish. The rest of us are not so insecure to try and force others to listen to rhetoric. If someone does not want to listen to what I have to say, why on earth would i try to force them to do so? That would make me an arrogant control fanatic!

Oh wait a minute, I just described a Liberal.

Isn't creating the same debates over and over again trying to force others to listen to you?

I would agree that copying someone's debate is trying to force others to listen to you. Only complete arrogant fools would do such a thing.

Wait... but aren't you arguing that the ban feature is important for you to remain on this site? Implying that you worry/care about the ban feature.

That mindless post does not even deserve a response. A chid could understand the intent of my remarks.

I think a better question would be........ Would the end of stalking privileges prompt you to leave this site?

One reason for the ban feature is to stop stalkers who would spend their lives ridiculing any debate you created.

Only in your mind is heading the opposing viewpoint considered ridiculing. If hating the other side of the argument sounds so much like ridiculing, maybe you are on the wrong side.

No. I haven't used the ban feature even once, not even as a joke.

Nor am I wishing for the banners to leave, by the way, because I know from other debate websites that keeping you angry radicals around is the best way for these debate sites to maintain interest. Keep doing what you do. But yeah, I'm still going to keep calling you out on it, too. That's what I do. We're kind of symbiotic.

I don't think the serial banners would leave if the ban feature were rescinded even though they could not control their message without banning all dissenting opinions. Without the ability to ban I would hazard a guess that spamming banners would disrupt other debates rather than create their own.

Despite being abused the ban feature serves a purpose. Just because a minority of the posters abuse this tool doesn't mean that others should not benefit from the usefulness of it. Think guns in the US, a few bad apples make it look bad but the majority of the posters here are responsible.

The price we pay for these things is seeing the poor behavior of others on display once in a while.

No and for one simple reason freedom of speech! right or wrong your entitled to your opinion.

Spammers still suck donkey balls though.

Side: No

No, but the range of causes which would qualify for banning must be limited and the process should be monitored to ensure the rules are being adhered to. Otherwise many debates are ruined and become no more than a one sided propaganda platform for the debate creator's viewpoint.

Side: No

I have railed against the ban feature and said I'd never use it but I admit I did. One time and with one member who would not stop slandering me. I also reported him to the mods. I will not be slandered. But Would like the ban feature to be subject to mod review. So people like SaintNoClue couldn't ban for no reason except disagreement.

God Bless.

Just for your information; slander is verbal, libel is written.
