If I could change one thing in this world, it would be that everyone in this world would only believe in one religion. I believe that everyone in this world is religious, an even the atheists, their religion is humanism. I recognize that religion has both positive and negative externalities. The positive being that religion gives meaning, hope and purpose to billions of people and it inspires some to help others and create a better world. However, religion also caused death, millions and millions of death throughout history, whether through war, persecution or other causes. Because of both the negative and positive externalities, a world where everyone believed in only one religion would prevent so many death and other tragedies to occur. It is true however that there will be some negative consequences if there was only one religion, like no divergence. But I believe that the positive externalities of only one religion will definitely outweigh both the negative externalities of only one religion and the positive externalities of many religions.

Plus, everyone would believe in that one religion, so noone would know of another religion, right?

Such a place will exist. When i don't know. That place is called heaven under God not Allah.

Even if there was only one religion, people still would have different opinions. Only when every human being is accepting of every other human beings practices and religions and opinions will there actually be a better place. If we had one religion, there would be a lot of positive changes.

Belief doesn't assure perfection, or a pure society. It just gives motivation to carry yourself as if you are the living example of God's light, and you are.

Yes, it would be a better place if everyone in the world believed in one religion, that being no religion, atheism.

i feel that atheists are more cynical and malicious towards christians than it is the other way around. I myself dont go around telling everyone they must believe or perish in the raging fires of hell, yet athiests always seem to try to come up with some sort of scientific point to eliminate belief in God. Well, we both have faith, you that God doesn't exist, and me that he does.

It would be a better place if every single person surrendered to God in the world. However, that will not happen. There will always be division.

Would it be better if it were possible - yes, because there would be complete unity.

But it is absolutely not possible. There is division because there is truth and deception. I truly wish that all would be united in truth, but truth cannot be divided against itself, and we are most certainly divided against one another.

While anyone can name pros to a world designated religion, you must understand what would happen in the destruction of all other world religions.

Toleration is what sets people apart and makes them human. Destroying all but one religion would be like destroying anyone's right to do wrong...

Imagine if you completely eliminated the ability to steal, to lie, to cheat...If you force people to live morally, you destroy the only purpose for morals... If you destroy all but one religion, you destroy the purpose of religion.

no because even if we had one religion there would be individuals that would say its wrong and they would rebel against it we need to just not worry so much about other peoples religion if we all just leave our beliefs to ourself then there is no one that would want to bomb us or was to impress their religion on us if we just agree to disagree

yes , agreed , there are even differences in religions different parts , like sunnis , shiites , catholics and etc.

Us modern westerners don's have that - rather, we have something called 'separation of church and state'. Nations that don't have that (like ancient Rome or middle eastern countries) often persecute those of different religions; which is why, until Constantine, Christians were often killed in the arena. Mideval Europe was like that as well: they had no tolerance if you were not a Catholic, which is why the followers of Lutheran (and Wycliffe, before him) were killed. My 7th great grandfather was from the Palatinate and, being a Lutheran, was exiled to Ireland where his son became a methodist and, later on, the founder of American Methodism (google Philip Embury). What I'm trying to say it, even if there was one 'religion', there would be many cults who would be persecuted because they do not belong to the mainstream religion - there is no way to keep the entire population happy, whatever the religion.

Because you believe doesn't mean you live by the word, or what it is you proclaim. There have many people that are religious, spend their time throwing the bible in other peoples faces and not living by their own set moral standards.

Even if we all belived in christianity doesn't mean we would still view God's word in different lights, therefore the arguments wouldn't cease.

i think that it depends on a person

even nowadays , people who believe in a same religion still get themselves into different denominations because of their different attitudes
