Would you be ok to have religion taught in school if ALL religions where taught?
There's always a fight, against or for religions, (as in Christianity) being taught in school, with many people arguing separation of Church and State, or arguing that their belief's are being denied. So if school's had a mandatory course in religion that covered not just Christianity and it's beliefs but all religions in the world, past and present, would you be ok with that? Let's say in middle school or high school to narrow it down some.
Pupils should receive infrequent and short religious education lessons outlining the essence of all the main religions.
The basic characteristics of each faith should be taught fairly and without fear or favour.
This form of religious instruction enables the student to make an informed choice, (if they feel so inclined) of the various man made faiths on offer as they progress through the education process.
There is the other side of the coin here and it is something that could so easily backfire for religious folks. Think about it, do you actually want your kids to go to school and learn all about other religions besides the one they're growing up with? The subject matter will most likely be adminstered like any other material taught in school, hence your kids will begin to understand their religion is pretty much the same as all the other myths and superstitions out there. They may even learn about how a newer religion managed to take it's doctrines from older ones.
This could be destructive for religions as kids turn into non-believers and never look back. hehe
As an atheist I think there would be nothing better than an in depth study of the Abrahamic religions from a historical and ideological stance. The more people who actually knew what the religious texts said the fewer religious people there would be. Just reading the Bible is normally cures christianity.
sure beats any promises you have to lay on the table
Tell me more about the power of Jesus. Can he cure my backache?
I actually have a theory which is somewhat shunned in mainstream academia. You have to go underground to find it. I believe Jesus was the ancient code word for drugs. If you think about it then it makes perfect sense. That's why the Bible is so silly -- because everybody involved with writing it was on drugs!
Jesus did not come to spare you from the first death, but the second
-------------------------------------
Revelation 20:11 .. then I saw a great white throne and him who sat upon it .. from whose presence earth and heaven fled away .. and no place was found for them
20:12 .. and I saw the dead .. the great and the small .. standing before the throne .. and books were opened .. and another book was opened .. which is the book of life .. and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books .. according to their deeds
20:13 .. and the sea gave up the dead which were in it .. and death and Hades gave up the dead which were in them .. and they were judged .. every one of them according to their deeds
20:14 .. then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire .. this is the second death .. the lake of fire
20:15 .. and if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life .. he was thrown into the lake of fire
------------------------------- sleep well my friends
You betcha! As long as history and science are taught just as seriously, mythology also. The three I mentioned should be standard, the religious studies should be optional.
other religions are no match against the Word of God (Holy Bible)
So, it's not enough that a wide variety of religious buildings and structures litter our landscape (who don't pay property or income taxes), where one might go to get a hit of indoc, you want to push yoiur agenda into schools as well.
Okay, then we should be able to walk into your church and teach evolution, Big Bang theory and how to use a condom, if that works for you?
Interesting, but everyone has their own service, I heard a lot of opinions, but some services are fraudsters, I used it many times https://www.essay-company.com/academic-writing , I am very pleased with everything quickly and I recommend qualitatively, a large base of high-quality specialists who perform essays.
They provide survey of world culture courses. It makes sense to teach survey of world religions for the same reason. There are people out there who don’t believe what you do. They believe X. Yes, they would think your beliefs are strange too.
I don’t see a problem with it, other than the need to focus on fundamental knowledge before adding things that may or may not be applicable, such as other people’s religions.
You can't even answer questions about what you think.
It's not that I can't. I just need you to in some way indicate that you are capable of understanding anything whatsoever. Until then I might as well explain it to a dog.
LOL seriously man, grow the fuck up. "I could if I wanted to, but I don't want to." You should have gotten a better excuse by the age of 9. By the age of 13 you should have stopped making excuses.
In a debate about Marx, you literally couldn't even refer to anything he said even once. So you lost.
Now, you can't answer simple questions. So you loose. That's the nature of our interaction, objectively speaking. Calling me retarded doesn't change this fact.

Ask any Marxist who's right about Marx and they'll choose me, because I am a Marxist who has studied Marx. Sorry bro, but I've got commie cred, you just have quotes from the internet that you don't understand in a Marxist context because you were told what to think about communism long before you ever started cherry picking quotes about it.
I'm sure that would be very hurtful if you weren't the one ignoring my arguments and saying idiotic things to the point where I feel that attempting to reason with you is futile.
You’ve refused to make arguments, or even answer questions on the grounds that your opponents are beneath you. Prove me wrong by making an argument here or answering the question the start of this thread.

So if school's had a mandatory course in religion that covered not just Christianity and it's beliefs but all religions in the world, past and present, would you be ok with that?
That would be an incredibly long course as it would have to cover literally hundreds of religions. There's far too much to learn about reality to bother learning about useless myths and superstitions.
It would be. It would most likely have to be taught through the entirety of the school life if you want to touch on every single religion. If you want to narrow it down I suppose you could do so with current religions or most popular.
No I wouldn’t a school is a place of education, teaching children about supernatural entities is not what I want in a school , why not keep it at home like Atheists do?
Religion is a part of history and the story of religion(s) is fairly fascinating when you get into why people believed in them, what they believed, who they believed and so on.

Teaching the history of religion isn't the same thing as teaching religion.
It was a suggestion as a bridge for educational teachings to multiple religion teachings. If you go into what they believed you are stepping into teaching religion.
This would be the worst possible function of public schools. Religion belongs at home or in church if at all and because...religion poisons everything.
I'm curious as to exactly what part of the debate did you not understand?
Or have you just reverted to your list of nonsensical ramblings without actually reading the entire thing? Come on it's not that difficult. Three sentences max. I'm sure you can do it.
Georgians are complaining about the way their schools teach religion, but a school district that is getting some of the criticism says it’s not doing anything new.
“My daughter had to learn the Shahid and the Five Pillars of Islam, which is what you learn to convert,” Walton County parent Michelle King complained to Channel 2 Action News. She added that the school didn’t teach the Ten Commandments “or anything about God.”The Georgia Department of Education requires schools to teach about Islam.

What does your dumb uninformed ass have to say about this ???????????????
What does your (edit) ass have to say about this ???????????????
That you are only capable of marginally understanding any debate topic and still enjoy posting nonsensical comments that just barely touch on what the debate is about without actually pertaining to the debate itself.
You are spun out there Leftist !!!!!!!!! So what do think about this ????????

A few months ago, Azfar Quddus’ 12-year-old son came home from his Ventura County school with a handout from his teacher.
“It had really horrible things written on it,” Quddus says.
Some of the information the teacher used in the Mesa Union School District social studies class mirrors information found on the website billionbibles.org. The site promotes a radical view of Christianity, saying Satan uses Muslims to kill Christians and that people should be afraid of Islam.
Students in the social studies class got material that purported to interpret Islamic law and the holy Quran.
“I told my son, ‘This is not what Islam is and what this sheet is saying has nothing to do with our religion,' ” Quddus says.

Yes and by your example I could then say, there are currently over 2,200 schools in Georgia.
The comment only partially pertains to your response but doesn't actually comment on the topic at hand. It leaves the person reading the debate saying "and?" or "so?"

Do you even have a clue how horrific the sin of supporting the deaths of even viable babies that God knows in the womb?
The Bible doesn't even mention abortion you rabid lunatic. It does however make specifically clear in Exodus that the punishment for killing an unborn baby is a fine:-
Exodus 21:22-25. This part of the Covenant Code legislates the case of a pregnant woman who becomes involved in a brawl between 2 men and has a miscarriage. A distinction is then made between the penalty that is to be exacted for the loss of the fetus and injury to the woman. For the fetus, a fine is paid as determined by the husband and the judges.
It is a sin to ban your fellow man from your debates simply because he disagrees with you. Jesus would never have done that. Jesus loved everybody, but all you have in your heart is hatred. You're a pathetic old coward who clings to the Bible for comfort, while paying absolutely no attention to its actual message.
My conclusion as a Christian is that the Bible is not anti-abortion. Rather, there is a non-Biblically-based movement that pretends to use the Bible as its justification for attacking women who do not carry a pregnancy to term (even if it was an unintended loss).
You sound like the false Christian the Bible speaks to. When you vote for a Democrat Party that supports killing even viable babies, do you think God is blind to that fact?
Do you think it is ok to kill babes after they are born? If you think God differentiates between a baby a few weeks before traveling down that birth canal , and the baby after birth, you live in a world of selfish denial.
God says he knows us in the womb! How can you distort the value of that baby?
We are not trying to prevent any rare life of mother abortion, so stop any ludicrous deception. We are not attacking any woman... WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE THE INNOCENT LIFE YOU TREAT AS GARBAGE.
The Bible speaks to how God hate's the shedding of innocent blood. ABORTION? HELLO?
The Bible even speaks to a punishment for anyone who accidentally causes a woman to lose her baby! Why would that be if the Baby has no value?
These new age Churches who are pro abortion and pro Gay Pastors, etc. are false Churches. You have chosen to follow the world rather than follow God. It's not too late for you to wake up.
If God wants Christians to help the poor, how much more would he want Christians to save innocent lives? WAKE UP!
You sound like the false Christian the Bible speaks to.
You are the serpent the Bible speaks about, lying and deceving others for your own personal glory, pretending to use the Bible, which is NOT anti-abortion. The Christian who wrote that article shows you to be an asshole who uses Gods name to persue his own interests and agendas.
WE ARE TRYING TO SAVE THE INNOCENT LIFE YOU TREAT AS GARBAGE
There is no "WE" here, there is only you and you are a liar and fraud. Do you think God is blind to that fact?
You are dismissed. God will deal with you harshly.
you are not fooling anyone, especially yourself or God.
Do you think you're fooling your God? He can see your lies and will deal with you all in good time.
You belong to the new order of the KKK, the Feminist KKK who treats unborn lives as the Slave owners treated Black people.
We can all see, including your God, the lies you tell. God can see you are using his name to further your personal agenda of hating others. You are the evil here.
When you vote for a Democrat Party that supports killing even viable babies, do you think God is blind to that fact?
Do you think God is blind to the seething hatred which dominates your life? Do you think he is blind to the poisonous hypocrisy of your words? When -- as they often do -- one of your "viable babies" grows up dependant on crack, and ends up mass murdering an entire orphanage, do you think God is blind to the fact that your vote killed innocent lives?
Do you think it is ok to kill babes after they are born?
Do you think it is OK to force rape victims to carry, give birth to, and care for their attacker's child?
God says he knows us in the womb!
Fantastic. He also says we should not covet our neighbour's oxen.
The Bible speaks to how God hate's the shedding of innocent blood. ABORTION?
The Bible also speaks to how God personally commands the Hebrews to sack the entire city of anybody caught worshipping a different God and slaughter everything inside, including the livestock.
The Bible is funny like that. Full of contradictions.
If God wants Christians to help the poor, then why do you vote for a political party which represents the interests of the rich?
If God wants Christians to help the poor, then why do you oppose social welfare programs, food stamps and -- ironically -- people who can't afford to raise children having abortions?
