africa is going to be the next world power

this is not a qymosabi debate where he trys to get everyone to support africa. this is a debate set by me to see if africa had the potential to become a world power like Europe and America, i have no facts to back up the idea and I personally think it is very unlikely or it would take huge natural catastrophes in all other continents.

Real Estate is location, location, location, and.....PRICE. All the African nations need to do is save the wild-life and locate the condos nearby. The rest is in the Swiss bank account.

Side: yes

The notion that Africa will be the next world power is ridiculous. Africa remains the world's poorest continent, and is rife will civil war, disease and famine. In addition, Africa is the world's least developed continent - the bottom 25 countries on the world development index were all African. I can see no reason why Africa will overcome the U.S and Europe.

Agreed. They are full of corruption, diseases that can easily be cured, genocide, and terrible economies that rely on pirates and Islamic militants for income.

They only thing Africa is good for right now is oil, diamonds and gold.

They will not be able to compete with the US, Europe or most Asian countries economically or militarily.

If Africa was a body part on the human body, it would either be a festering asshole or an armpit that hasn't been washed in a few centuries.

Seeing as it is a black hole for humanitarian aid and the leaders of most countries there are more interested in filling their pockets with money rather than filling the bloated bellies of their people with food, I say the chances of it becoming a world power are about as likely as a retard teaching physics to Steven Hawking.

Enigmaticman has made the point of its poverty keeping it from coming a power, and keep in mind Africa is not one country and whatever small economy it has is not consistent throughout the continent, it would be like saying east Asia is on the rise in the early 1900's when only Japan was growing, but take Japan out of the equation.

Well anything is possible, but this is extremely unlikely. First off, the entire continent would never unite to one superpower. There's already civil war and genocide in several African nations, so unification can't possibly occur under such circumstances. Not to mention, most of Africa consists of a tribal culture, meaning they don't think in a Western mindset, the mindset that currently encompasses most of the world powers. Western ideas are to lead through diplomacy, build up powerful militaries, and send out the troops when diplomacy fails. Tribal ideals are to defend your homeland from the other tribes and, when resources are low, to attack another tribe to obtain theirs.

On top of all of this, African nations have some of the poorest economies, highest mortality rates (especially to AIDS), and highest famine rates.

maybe in the far future, but i think the next world power will be coming from asia.
