alive for.... or since alive...
Some people do things because they are alive and some people are alive because they want to do things. What kind of person are you and do you think these different perspectives vary the efficiency of life.
I guess that amongst all the diversity of people some of us get lucky to get to be doing what we choose to do in life as our occupation whether we are employed or self employed and get to enjoy it, so we are motivated by our interest in what we are doing, medicine, science, building, hospitality etc etc. to give us the satisfaction we get from doing what we want to do. Then again some of us are not that lucky and get to do what we can wherever we can find work, and so work becomes something we do to earn a living, pay the bills and stay alive. So on the one hand we have people who are alive because they are doing what interests them and there are others who are living because they have been able to find work, shelter and as much of a quality of life as they can. I am fortunate in having been in the first category by default. I started out job hopping until I was in my early thirties not really knowing exactly what I wanted to do and then found myself in health, studying and working in psychiatry which I followed for 30 years until I retired having found my career by accident that made me feel alive helping others who needed support until they were well enough to help themselves. 1

I will make my own assumptions on the question here. I think I am one who 'does things because I am alive' I think by efficiency you mean in achieving happiness and to that I would say that living to do things is far better. I live in apathy towards my life with little to do but follow the desires of the rest of the world that also appeal to me. It is probably less preferable than living to do things, where assumedly you would be living with passion and desire and excitement and thrill all day long. Sounds a little tiresome really, but still probably preferable. |
