listen to me very carefully because this is an important lesson kids. If you can't be honest, they are not your friends. If you have to lie for them, then they are not your friends. Now, there's nothing wrong with a "white" lie now and then, "no you're not getting fat" if it's a chick, "yes, he'd be a great employee" if they put you as a contact on a job app, etc. But if you have to tell the cops you were with your friend all night, they're not you're friend... catch the drift. white lies and lie lies or whatever. That, and don't shave against the grain in a couple years or whatever, now go do your homework. Side: honesty
Honesty is more important than friendship because when you’re in court or any lawful situation, honesty is a requirement and when you get thrown in jail, your friend won’t be there for you to help you out or give bail money. Lying is an ethically wrong thing to do and destroys your honor. Abraham Lincoln once said “You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” After so many lies, people begin to catch on and your honor begins to slowly dissolve until it means nothing. Friendship is more important and gets you further in life than honesty. Sometimes the truth hurts people and is better left unsaid. In the case of the classic “Does this article of clothing make me look fat,” it is best not to tell the truth (except in the rare occasion when it doesn’t actually make them look fat). Friends are very entertaining and can help you to get through rough times. When you’re lost and alone, you can simply call a friend and ask for help. This proves the topic to be “false” because when you need a little help, honesty won’t give you a ride home or lead the way like a good friend would. Side: friendship
