So what you mean is that it doesn't come up to your standards as American television? A.k.a Jersey Shore and other loads of crap like it? Doctor Who is part of a genre of television you simply can't find in America anymore... it's called "watcheable", and doesn't involve a bunch of idiots doing drugs and having sex like so many American shows do.
The point of watching Doctor Who is to think, to be confused, to have that feeling of "What the hell is going to happen next". Doctor Who Is not for people to relax, it is for people to get involved.
Now the plots are to hard to fathom as they have changed writer's and while Matt Smith (the current doctor) is a great actor I think his doctor is just to much of an idiot character.
It's okay to admit you're not smart enough to wrap your mind around the current plots, which have indeed become more complex due to Steven Moffat, the best writer the show has ever had. Matt Smith is not an "idiot character"; he spits out more science and math in that show than you've ever dreamed of.
It depends on the episode that you watch. If you watched an Ecleston episode than ya, it was probably terrible, but if you watched a Tennant or Smith episode than you just got unlucky and ended up watching one of the three bad episodes they have had since Ecleston left.
Doctor who stinks!!! the graphics are terrible and the characters are bad actors. Davis tennant has bug eyes and Matt Smith has a chin like the guy on american dad
You cannot say a show stinks because the actors look weird and DAVID Tennant is one of the best actors I've ever seen. how else would you explain all the roles hes had. Same with Matt Smith.
Doctor Who is an excellent show. It is the number one most popular show in Britain, not to mention its rapidly growing American fan base. The show has skyrocketed in popularity quite recently due in part by Steven Moffat, the current writer and executive producer of the show who has given it a new sense of creativity and stunning plots. It is also one of the longest running television shows, having started in 1963 and is currently preparing for its 50th Anniversary this November 23rd, 2013, an event that has attracted the attention of billions of watchers.
It is the most popular because it is so good. British television is so much better than the majority of American television shows it isn't even funny. American television has become infected with shows like Jersey Shore and horrible stuff like that.
Of course all of the actors are British. That tends to happen in British shows.
The big bang theory is a good show, the walking dead is a good show, jersey shore no longer aires, honey boo boo is an amazing show, 30 rock is a good show, need i go on?!?!?!?!?!?!
In some ways, It's a bad show, like how the Doctor always figures out the plot before we have a chance to or we know what is happening because of a third person perspective.
In other ways, It's a really good show and a great classic. Think about it, when Doctor Who came out, the only 'Think outside the box' program was the Twilight Zone. This show has great creativity and so much perspective. the characters are creative and diverse and the worlds are amazing. Doctor Who has it's own style that is unique, even to Stargate.
The ideas and debates about what makes a monster and what/who counts as a person.
we have AIs and flaps on skin, we have statues we have suns, we have little pollen and huge living planets. If you take a closer look, past the big chins, bananas and jelly babies, you will see it really is bigger on the inside.
I would have to disagree with the first part of your statement. I think it's better the way they do it in third person perspective. That way the audience gets to enjoy the final stages of the Doctor's plan to get out of whatever mess he's in rather than knowing it all along. If you knew it all along you'd get bored and the end wouldn't be a surprise.
That is not what he meant. First person viewing is from the perspective of the main character, so from the Doctor's perspective. Third person viewing is from an imaginary character outside of the main character, so watching the Doctor without knowing what he is thinking.
The only way you wouldn't be able to understand the actors is if you cant understand a British accent, and I'd bet you cant name a single movie or show that doesn't have fast moving shots during an action sequence.
Doctor Who is an AMAZING show, I absolutely fell in love with it. The fantasy, the action, the characters, the doctors, the elements of the show. Perfect for me, first of all the concept of following a timelord around, is a plot I find incredible, this fictional world of exploring the cosmos through space and time, brilliant. Not only that, but the creativity involved was definitely not half bad, something a lot like the twilight one, which you don't see much of. Doctor Who is a fantastic show if I do say so myself. I <3 <3 Doctor Who lol
Doctor who has one of the largest fan bases of all time and it is the longest running show of all time. None of those accomplishments could have been possible if it were a bad show.
How on earth is that true? You can't make claims based on opinion. You need to back up your arguments with facts. They have had plenty of Americans on the show! Captain Jack Harkness was one, and he was one of the main characters.
Your crazy, they are ALL british, if you do not agree you need to spend five minutes listening to the show and then you should rethink your life because they are ALL british!!!
