Religion is absolutely preposterous. I think of the current existence of Christmas to recognizably be due to the celebration of the alleged 'Birth of Christ' However, I am gonna get flamed for this, and I am prepared. We now live in a society with compelling evidence that evolution occurred, with explanations for the seemingly unexplainable. What have we been able to think of as likely false? The ability for any mammal to walk on water, the ability for any person to turn water into wine by means of 'magic' that 'magic' does not exist and that several 'mythologies' are the product of early observations that were 'allegedly' made by people. I do not believe in the existence of an actual 'Jesus' that was born on December 25th, that aided the future of the human race. I believe it all to be a myth, created by people. Catholicism is nothing more than a creation myth, created by people. The reason for the existence Christmas season, is people, just regular people, who believe in Jesus, but I do not think Jesus existed, at least not to the level that we think of him at. Peoples perception of Jesus created Christmas. so in some ways yes, Jesus is responsible for the Christmas season, but in other ways, no, Jesus was not real so how can we accredit him with being responsible for this Christmas season?

Saturnalia, Midwinter, Yule... pretty much. The evergreen decorations, the yule log, the date- all of that is from pagan origin. All there is of christian origin is the lousy nativities.

Jesus was actually born in spring so I never understood why we celebrate his birth in December. Jesus came and died for our sins and also showed us how to live life as a Christian he set the example we have to follow
