If we choose the programmes which we wish to watch and do not simply glare at any station which just happens to be on then it isn't a waste of time. Television provides up the the minute news, an unbiased forum on which politicians and individuals can express their ideologies and opinions. For relaxation many prefer to watch an informative documentary programme, a drama or a film. The danger is, as it always was, that we become less discerning about what we view and adapt a lazy, monkey look, monkey see, attitude towards television. All of us probably spend too much time on our computers but generally speaking we can hone certain skills with it's use and enjoy some satisfaction from the creativity of our contribution to the many social network sites.
