Yes! of course they should have a cell phone!! it is a good way to stay in touch with friends, play games These aren't school activities, and they are distracting. they can go out on their own, because they can call their parents if needed, or text (which is what i do) This is what telephone booths are for. Cellphones aren't required for this. Im in grade 8 and i just god a phone last year! many kida have them and it is a good thing to have :) Not for school. In your private life, go ahead. There's no in between, but I think every case is different. For instance, I think that most kids don't really NEED one. They would mostly just use it to play candy crush or something. I think the kids that DO need one are the ones that play sports or have stuff to do after school. They might need a phone to call their parents if they need it. In this case, they might do well with a phone that will only call their parents and 911, if such a phone even exists. Side: of course they should

I think Elementary student aged kids should NOT, bring cellphones to school. Why? I have many reasons: Here are my pros and cons:' Pros: -Memories -Fieldtrip Cons: Big distraction in Class! - Bulling - Cyber bulling - Cheat in class- taking a picture of exam or test. Side: of course they should

Well they shouldn't have them, not that they don't or couldn't. When I was in elementary school I did not own a cell phone. I didn't need one, now I go anywhere and see a 8 year old texting and totally spaced out. Starting a bad habit early. Parents these days give their kids to much leniency. Side: no, absolutely not.
No way in hell. Kids are growing up too fast these days. Sure, parents do what they think is best for their kids, but they shouldn't have cell phones because they don't need them at this age. If something happens at school, they should know to get the teacher to ring Mom. If something happens out of school, well, kids this age shouldn't even leave home on their own, or maybe within walking distance. What do kids this age even use cell phones for, anyway? Kids should be studying or reading, not wasting their childhoods texting away on an expensive cell phone. Parents have to actually pay for the phone and it's plan (any kid who has enough poclet money to pay for it themselves is downright spoilt), and some parents spoil their kids in this regard. The number of times I've seen 7 year olds playing with iPhones is crazy. This treatment by parents is likely to turn the kids into fat snobs. I'm a high school student and have the cheapest phone available. No camera, no games, no internet, nothing. I barely use it, and am surviving. I even know some adults who hate cell phones and only have one in case of emergency. If older people can live without cell phones, why can't school kids? Side: no, absolutely not.

It depends on the kind of phone. If it is an old phone that can only do basic calling and texting, it might be fine. More likely, the child will receive a smart phone. It is too much responsibility to allow kids to handle a relatively expensive device that is, most of the time, not used responsibly. I'm currently in school, and most of my peers easily use phones to cheat during tests, and get away with it. Elementary school is too early for technological responsibilities. Once you give children free access to the Internet without supervision, you cannot control what they find. The risks of giving an elementary school kid a cell phone outweigh the safety benefits. Side: no, absolutely not.

Why would a kindergarten or anybody with a higher grade want to have a cell phone in school? Where I live students in the elementary school have strict policies about cell phones. Plus these kids are too young to be texting or calling people or be using them in class. Side: no, absolutely not.
The only reason they would need a cell phone is if they were without someone who had one (for this argument I'm pretending that only 8th grade and up have cell phones). I believe that children who are in elementary school shouldn't be without someone who has a phone anyway. They should be at a friend's house (where there is a house phone, or parent with cell phone) or at the movies with family, or friends with adult supervision. Or anywhere, but they should be with someone responsible (like 8th grade and up). How often do you see a bunch of 10 and 11 year olds walking through the mall alone? If you do, I believe they shouldn't be out alone anyway, with or without cell phones. I'm in 9th grade and I only just got a phone. Although I've always know younger kids who had phones, I always wondered why they needed them. Now I know, they don't. Side: I don't think so
