it should be illegal because people should have respect for their body and not selling it to people because that's how they know how to make money

there are a couple points to discuss just strictly from a logical point of view, never mind what makes sense in the real world.

because people should have respect for their body

There is nothing inherent that having sex = not having respect for one's body. In fact I bet I could succesfully argue that sex = more respect for your body. So this is not an argument.

because that's how they know how to make money

that being how they know how to make money is a reason for, not against, there is nothing inherent about this section of your argument which supports you position... the opposite actually.

I'm going to assume you are 12 considering the tone of your argument, and so I'm going to explain the real world in easy non-offensive terms.

The fact is there has been prostitution since the beginning of time. In fact people were selling sex before they were selling food. It is part of our genetic make-up. It is impossible to stop it, even if one wanted to.

More importantly though, when you make something illegal which you know people are going to do anyway, all you do is take it out of the public view, ensuring it is controlled by criminals instead of law abiding citizens, ensuring that in this case prostitutes are mistreated instead of allowed the benefits of legal employment, and you ensure that instead of taxes for the practice going toward new roads, police, etc, you ensure it goes toward criminal empires.

Niether logically nor in a world view sense does illegal prostitution make any sense. It's a juvenile postiion born of superstitious puritism and a lack of knowledge of the basic human condition.

i do believe that prostitution is wrong but who are you to tell or decide for someone else on what they should do and how they should treat their bodies? its their body and if they want to do that well that is their problem. i don't want prostitution to be legal but my opinion on it is that it might as well be legal because it's happening anyway whether on the streets a house hold or in a business. If the prostitute is over the age of 18 then leave them alone theyre old enough to make their own decisions they know right from wrong we need to be focused on the child prostitutes if more than anything but to try and say or tell a person what to do with their body is out the question you don't own them so don't speak as if you do

What a person does to her own body is completely their own business.

Self-respect, if that's even what they're really lacking, can and should be taught to people rather than forced. Having people abide anything by force is, to my understanding, also self-respect depriving.

If it's legalized it can regulated. There can be control on spread of disease and control of how women in these situations are treated, and some men.

Who cares, it your own body, do what you want with it. Honestly, how conceited do you have to be to impose your own archaic beliefs of what should be done with a body on others. It's not your body, so let others do what they want with their own body. If that's not your cup of tea then don't engage in those actions, but if you want to have sex with someone else for money, and they want sex with you and will give you money, then why the hell not.

Just think of how often this goes on. Now whether we agree with this type of "profession" or not it will still happen so why not make it legal and then tax them.

At the same time taxing them might slightly reduce prostitution, since many of them would feel ashamed of situations where she would have to tell someone what her job was, or other similar situations where her secrecy would be compromised.

On the other hand that might be a road block for college girls that can't pay college with only their day job, but that also don't want anyone to know what they do at night. (I Don't blame them for doing it for their studies like many of them do, at least here in my country. College isn't cheap at all...)

Well, if it is legalized, it might reduce other sexual abuse. Seems like either way, people will feel there is a stigma attached to it so they may not utilize the services.

Oh well, a tough one to judge!

People will always do what they want, regardless of the laws. Murders, rape, theft, crimes of all kind take place each day regardless of the laws against them. If smoking became illegalized, smokers would still find a way to get cigarettes - just the same way that prostitution will always happen - legal or illegal, there will always be someone who disregards the law and engages in the act.

Side: legal

States can make plenty of revenue from State controlled houses of prostitution.
