I don't understand what do you mean. Are you saying about cheating by cell phones or just using it at lessons??? Of course, cell phone is very useful tool of communication and we don't know something very important may happen while the student at the school. In situations like these cell phone is very necessary thing. On other hand, it prevent from concentrating only on studying. Since schoolchildren may digress by cell phone during the lesson. In addition, it is the main target of stealing at schools. As we know, some children are trustful and not careful. Somebody may use this suitable chance and steal cell phones. As for the exams, it definitely should be banned to use. It is known that nowadays high developed technologies are very many and children of our days are also modern and sly. It is not so hard to use cell phones to cheat during exams. According to Ken Trump, President of National School Safety and Security Services, cell phones do not have only this negatively impact the education of the children making and receiving calls, it also hinders the education of fellow students. That's why I think teachers should not permit children to use cell phones at the lesson.

Yes they should ban using cell phones during class because someone could easily text someone in there classroom and ask for the answer for a specific question on the test. Also they should ban cell phones because school is a learning environment and cell phones would be a distraction to class. Some of my classes you are allowed to have your phones out and text but some classes ban it and if they see anyone's cell phone then they take it away for 24 hours.

Cell phones should be banned from school. All phones should be parked at the moment of entering the school and picked up again only as one exits the school's doors. We need some discipline in our schools in more ways than one. We're fast losing ground against those receiving their educations in other countries. We're far too lax here and things need to change--fast! Add some school uniforms; get the teachers back into business attire; disallow all swearing within the school; in general, get the kids and the teachers back to work............................learning to be a contributing member of society. Amen, Sister

Yes, I agree to this statement. My school, being over-protective, has even banned us to BRING our phones to school. Well, this part is a tad bit too much. But well, I do agree that students should not use phones during the class-hours.

Before I proceed, I tell you all that I'm a blackberry user and so are many of my friends and students in my school.

My sister's friend who's a blackberry messenger devotee, always tend to use her BB(blackberry) even when she's supposed to do her class assignments. She opens her phone and bbm every single day. Like, literally, everyday.

Consequently, I've been watching her (since she is one of my closest friend too, I wanted to advise her on her wrong acts..) for 3 months so far.

She was a passionate student although she didn't get into 5 top rankings in the class. At least, she got into top 10. But eventually, she's now out of this rank, all her marks in every subject has been reduced. A

nd I can strongly say for certain that it all happened because she uses her phone in the class.

Bringing the phones and using them in class surely provokes the student to open Twitter, Facebook, BBM(blackberry messenger) and all.

It distracts the students' concentration in the class.

Furthermore, cellphones nowadays emits a very strong radiating waves. A research has been approved that cellhpones are dangerous and (PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO THAT I'VE EMBEDDED IN.) they will give you a present called "CANCER".

Cellphones are so fancy and trendy when you use them. Oh, and we can't ignore how comfortable they are. But we have to think twice before using them.

Do we really have to use them when we can call them or message them via other media? Because, cellphones, in one word, are detrimental.

yes, schools should ban the using of cellphones during class. I think that cellphones are used far too much. I think that the cellphone should be used in emergency purposes such as being stranded on the side of the road, need a ride home and the school is closing. I hate it when I'm in any public place and someone's text and/or cell phone goes off. First of all, when those text things and/or cell phones goes off, everyone hears it and some of those ring tones are so obnoxious. I have an acquaintance that when I call her phone, it doesn't ring but it plays a whole verse of a song and then asks you to leave a message. By the time, I've heard the whole verse of the song, I forget what I wanted to say - LOL. Also, people hear that person's whole conversation during the conversation and what people talk about on their cell phone is everthing from who they're dating, addresses, phone numbers, etc. And that's really obnoxious and other people may take that information and do God knows what with it. Plus, I don't want to hear all about a person's personal or business affairs. I've got more than enough of my own problems.

If I were a teacher in the classroom, I would ban cellphone use in my class because I believe that they are disruptive, can be used for cheating and not necessary in general.

If I were the manager at a company and the employees were in a meeting and the cellphone and/or text went off, especially after I had enforced no cell phones in meetings, I'd confiscate the phone and reprimand the person for their rudeness during the meeting.

Alot of you are forgeting the "during class" part. The use of cellphones during class is disrespectful, a hinderance, and in some cases dishonest. Children often use texting to cheat and ignore lessons because they find them boring. It disturbs learning and should never be allowed.

*But I do not find cellphone use in the hallways, and before and after school a problem.

A cell phone distracts and a teacher may confiscate it. Leave the cell phone at home.

First of all I want to say that one of the primary reasons why cell phones should be allowed in school, is that you can call to someone in any time. If the child is in some unfortunate or emergency situation, he can immediately call his parents. Parents too can watch of their children and know about their whereabouts at any time through a cell phone.

If the kids wants their parents immediate advice or something concerning study for example, they can always call to their parents using a cell phone. Cell phones for kids are very beneficial in today's times when both the parents are working long hours. With their help a kid feels that he is connected to his parents. Thus, I can say that cell phones are beneficial.

Also I want to add that the best way is keep own phones on silent in the class, the ring tone or the text-message can disturb the whole class.

After debating "should cell phones be allowed in schools?", I can say that from the point of view of kids' safety, they are really need in today's unpredictable times. At the same time, their usage can create a noise or something else in class and school. So, having a partial ban on their usage, cell phones should be allowed in schools, but they should keep their cell phones on silent.

is that you can call to someone in any time.

That's kinda the problem. They should be paying attention to the teacher, not chatting with kith and kin.

If the kids wants their parents immediate advice or something concerning study for example, they can always call to their parents using a cell phone.

They can do so on their own time. School is meant to teach children how to learn, not to rely on others.

With their help a kid feels that he is connected to his parents.

You are fooling yourself if you think that kids actually want cellphones to keep in touch with [snicker] their parents of all people!

Also I want to add that the best way is keep own phones on silent in the class, the ring tone or the text-message can disturb the whole class.

They oughtn't be on during class at all.

I can say that from the point of view of kids' safety

You do realize that kids aren't allowed to use their phones during a lock-down, right?

they are really need in today's unpredictable times.

What do you mean by today's unpredictable times? School violence is far scarcer than most seem to think.

When I said call to someone, I didn't mean chatting with kith or kin or something like that. I mean if there is a real problem that the child can call his parents.

Also when I was talking about advice or something else, I mean again if there is a problem, for instance with health, the kid may call his parents and ask something.

What about cell phones at class, they should be partially banned, I mean not completely, only during the lessons.

By today's unpredictable times I don't mean specifically school violence, although this is not an exception. It can mockery from classmates or teachers. For example, when I was in high school, our teacher of physical training always come to class a little bit drunk. And he always was very angry.

I don't know if you know this but schools have phones too. Plus a teacher can always hand their phones to the students if it is an emergency.

I went to a New Tech High School. In my third year there was a class that allowed cell phone usage and iPods as long as you spent at least 95% of your time on task. Suddenly the whole class was many times more productive because they no longer had to be sneaky about their cell phone use. So long as they were on task, they got to use their cell phones and MP3 players. It was so effective that it quickly became a school-wide policy, with the decision to ban cell phone and MP3 usage coming down to individual teachers. The few teachers that objected to the change didn't make it past the first semester before allowing them.

Yes you see maybe kids did listen to the whole 95% thing. But now when half a kids life is spent on the internet or texting i don't think they will be able to spend 6 hours in school with their MP3's and phones without texting, or going on the internet. Maybe it worked for your class but i know the majority of students will not be able to control themselves.

Let us not forget that mobile devices do have a lot of positive uses in a school environment. Cell phones can serve as a connection between students and their parents. Taking photos of class presentations or projects and sending them to their parents will give students the affirmation they deserve even if they're not physically with their parents. Sharing notes with classmates can be easier too with mobile technology present. Missed assignments and notes will be a thing of the past. Communicating with classmates with the help of cell phones can increase productivity and can foster a collaborative environment? The multimedia content that can be accessed through cell phones can also help students relax if they use it outside class hours. For every reason to keep a student from bringing a cell phone to school there's an equally logical reason to believe that bringing a cell phone to school is a wise idea. I personally think mobiles should be allowed in school but good luck anyway. We can use cell phones from emergency were to arise parents could get in touch with kids knowing they had their phone with them. They can call their parents when they need a ride or they could just go to the office. Some Parents think it’s good to use phones. At present, there are many students are living at school, so it will be very convenient to contact their kids through cell phones. However, the parents should manage the phone charges. For students who are using phones, they think cell phones are not only convenient but also improve the friendship between the classmates and strengthen the link between relatives. And now the mobile phones have more and more function, which will enrich the students’ life. It is impossible to give up using phones. Like computer, although there are network games and bad information in it, every school opens the computer class. In my opinion, many middle school students have the ability of self-control. they can distinguish the primary and secondary, and use mobile phones reasonably. It’s unwise to forbid them to use phones. Mobile phone is innocent, and the key is how parents and teachers help them to use phones correctly.
