What has running got to do with it? That's only one part of what an athlete does, they get paid what they're worth to their teams or sponsors. Nobody is paying a sports star more than they believe that sports star is worth, these people are racking in billions off the backs of a particular athlete's fanbase. Well, I believe that sport players of all kinds do get paid a LOT compared to others. I mean, sport participants could be fairly intellectually deficient but know how to master a sport well, while others (mostly the dedicated students who spend countless hours studying, being devoted to education, and going the extra mile) who are rather intellectually intelligent do not get paid as much. They, however and relatively, work harder than sport players. I'm not stating that people extremely involved in sports and get paid a large income for it are dumb...just it could happen. Look at Mayweather (the boxer) who is rather a jerk to Boxing employees and disrespectful. He gets paid WAY more than someone like Michio Kaku (a well-known physicist who attended Harvard). This should not be the case in this scenario. Side: yes, they are paid too much
"Hey, look at me, I chase a ball through the grass though most people in my country are in poverty and I contribute absolutly nothing to it! I'm act like I am the best, the toughest, and the greatest among other people. I don't give a flying *%#$ for anyone else." Yes, they are over paid. Firefighters, police, and soldiers die for minimum wage while idiots play ball for millions. Side: yes, they are paid too much

Yes, regular kids in high school are playing the same games, and they are not getting paid, sure, the pros are a lot older, but it's the sam game and we just watching it for our entainment... just like high school/college games too. The money should go people that save lives, doctors, firemen, policemen, etc. Side: yes, they are paid too much

Only as much as we, the fans, let them be. Let me remind you they make money from people visiting the games and buying things from them. They also put their bodies on the line, and could be denied health insurance, as these things are expensive. People will sometimes say it is not fair out of jealousy. These men and woman are making money an honest to good way. Side: no, they are not paid too much
Sure, when looked at from the average income of someone with a college degree working 40+ hours a week, playing a game one season of the year for an hour or so at a time makes payment seem disproportional to work done. But looking at the money each athlete brings in, compared to owners and what they bring in, I actually think professional athletes are underpaid, and by a lot. Besides the ones on the New York Yankees that is. Fuck the New York Yankess. Side: no, they are not paid too much

The reason these athletes are paid as much as they have is because they are the money makers of their business whether it is basketball, football, soccer, etc. If you think about it, the highest paid NBA player is paid about $24 million. The highest paid WNBA player is paid $800k. The reason is that the fans of the NBA are significantly greater than the WNBA. There is a reason for that. NBA players entertain while WNBA opens itself up for criticism. Being in the sports business is just like working for a company who only pays commission. Side: no, they are not paid too much
