there should be three months of summer

There should be three months of summer

than two. We should have three so we have more time to get school supplies and have more family time.

By the time it is at the end of August there are big sales then the last week of the sale and of the summer there all gone. By the time I go to the stores, everything is all gone but if we have three months of summer stores like Staples,Wall-Mart, and Shoppers Drug Mart will have more money to get more supplies.

When you have three months of summer it is more relaxing and less stressful. You would have more camp time, more vacation time and more time to hang with your friends. Example last summer I was so relaxed and I went to Manatoulin Island. My family and I were so relaxed for a week then we had to go back because school was suppose to start and My mom and dad had to go back to work.

However we have ten months of school plus breaks nine months would change everything. If we had less P.D days then three months of summer. We have to get up early and go to bed early so why can’t we have three months of summer. Plus teachers could  get more ready for school. School should start in the middle of October and end in the middle of June.

As I said in my three paragraphs we should have three months of summer so we can hang out with friends. Have more time to get school supplies and have more vacation time. I would say that summer should be three months.

We have 3 months of summer according to the calendar but not according to the time you must be in school. You're talking about summer vacation and not summer. As it is summer vacation is more than enough time to hang-out with friends and family, take a long vacation, buy your supplies for the next school year as well as your clothes for the season.

The amount of time people spend in school is dictated by the law and the Board of Education sets up your breaks as well as off days. You have it far better than I did when I was in school but you are missing the point. In today's world you need to spend as much time in school as you can in preparation of what lies ahead. The lesser grades prepare you for the routine of study and a life lived by schedules while the middle and upper grades prepare you for further education and how to use what free time you have wisely.

There is simply no reason you gave that would indicate anyone needs more time off than they already have. Do you know that in other countries of the world they have very little time off for a summer break?

Side: What you have is more than adequate

I agree. It is now 2015 and the Summer vacation for children is getting shorter and shorter. Most schools in Arizona will be going back on August 10. I think that's terrible. I am grateful that I never had to go back to school until after Labor Day. It's a shame that the kids are getting short-changed from their Summer vacation.

I think 2 months is good enough. That's a long time for you brain to turn to mush before the next school year. And honestly, I've often thought it would be a good idea to have school year round, but with short breaks spaced evenly throughout.

As a side note, I'm graduating from high school on May 13. I live in NJ, so we start school in September. :) Needless to say, this has been a short year for me.

I don't even take the two months off. I've gone to summer school Freshman summer and I'm going again this Sophomore summer. I've got to take the summer classes if I want to stay in my electives. And I think I get enough time off, I mean, I can't remember things over Christmas break!

Neither can I, but I get 2 weeks off for Christmas and 2 for Easter, so it's understandable... :)

I also took a summer course. My school doesn't offer much, but I took Pre-calc after sophomore year and now I'm in AP Calc BC. It's a nightmare (not really). The only other summer class was geometry, but I took that freshman year as a more advanced math class (rather than Algebra I, which I took in middle school).

Summer is always good to have a leisure time and enjoy the things that only summertime could offer. But if you really wanted to stay top of your game, you can't afford to have another month just strolling it away. Since high school I always have something up every summer. Right this time I am planning to focus more on my post graduate studies.
