what is better: education abroad or education in your motherland?

So the question is what is better: education abroad or education in your motherland?

In my opinion, education in your motherland is much better.

First of all, you feel calm and safe whereas in unknown country you are under the endless stress. And here lies the culture shock. You face different problems - another country, people, rules, traditions, food, manners, customs, laws, values and etc. This problems crush on you in one single moment and you can't think about education anymore. Stress leads to anxiety, panic disorders, depression, paranoia and other phobias. Any mental problems may become even harder with time.

Secondly, money, money and money. Nothing is free. Studying abroad can be really expensive. And I am not talkin about the cost of education itsels, I am talking about additional expenses like food, residence, flights home and back... Moreover, most countries do not allow foreign students to have a part time job so you need to have some money before you arrive.

This is two main things I wanted to raise. Of course, there are others such as a necessity of learning a second language, risk of losing touch with your family and friends, danger to meet suspicious people, differences between universities and so with credits, reversal culture shock and many others.

What is your opinion?

I think that everything depends on which country you live in. But I support motherland education because it's more stressless. If you want to study you will study everywhere. Second, it's much cheaper, because you don't have to rent a flat. Also, it's easier to study in your native language, but you always can search for help. There are a lot of great services that will ease your education even more.

Well, it all depends on where you actually live and where you're planning to go to for education. If it's a third world country like many African countries where most people don't have access to quality education, then it's probably best traveling to a different country. But keep in mind that not all third-world countries have a bad education system. Some like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh hold a very high reputation for their education system. But students who are studying abroad face many problems like language barriers, different cultures, different laws, etc. I've even seen students asking "write my essay online in uk" since they are not native to the language and have a pretty hard time studying.

Education abroad is better, because:

1. job opportunity (students who studied abroad are more cultural aware)

2. studying abroad is the best way to learn foreign languages

3. it happens that sometimes alma-matres abroad are better and stronger than in motherland

Besides, it is more interesting! You can travel, learn something new or meet somebody new!

By the way, in some countries education for foreighners is free!

I agree with you that education abroad is much interesting than in your own country but don't you think it will be really hard to start? It is always hard to start something new. And when you are apart from your family, your main support, all things which you are used to, you may feel disorientation in unknown country. It will take time to overcome this frightening period.

yes, of course it will be hard, but if we don't try, we will never know how it is! I take the view that we should always try something new, we should live like today is our last day and then our life could become more interesting and exciting!
