The victors right the most seen part of history, so yes, they do write history. You also forget that I the defeated also write history, just no one chooses to read it. If you're like, you always study both sides (not just by reading some watered down summary from a text book) and then think about it. One thing you'll notice is that history has patterns, you can see them in the world.
I don't need to know details about history to see patterns. And the fact that things change over time still remains. Basing predictions about the future on past events is not right. Why is it not right? Because things change over time.
