It’s a story of temptation, betrayal, weakness, wickedness, cruelty, and injustice, climaxing in a dramatic courtroom scene. To the untrained eye, it reads like fiction .... Yet the trial of Jesus and the events leading to His crucifixion were real. What’s more, they weren’t random acts of human wickedness—they were part of God’s eternal plan, and a part of the Easter story you may have overlooked .... Jesus on Trial shows how history’s worst miscarriage of justice reveals the Lord’s mission, His character, and a pattern for you to follow as a Christian when you face inevitable trials and persecution
yes there was .... but the only problem was: he WAS God ...........................................................................................................
I see but to say it was illegal isn't quite the word then. I suppose you can say it was unjust. He had an opportunity, like anyone in a court case, to prove there was some reason why he isn't guilty of a crime. The evidence was against him: he clearly did claim to be God. He refused the opportunity to present the evidence he had and therefore was fairly found guilty based on the evidence they had and was given the punishment of the time.
the proof was on the Jewish leaders to prove their accusation of his so-called crime .. they violated every Jurisprudence in their book .... hear the audios ... tiz a great lesson
I don't really want to spend so long listening. Don't you have the transcript?
Of course, assuming that the Bible is true, the Jewish leaders made a mistake. However, what more could they have done?
It is usually the case that the prosecution has to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the person is guilty. There a number of elements that the prosecution has to prove for every crime. For murder, for example, the criteria is that 1) there was a killing 2) it was under the juristidiction of the crown 3) it was done intentionally 4) the intention was the cause grevious bodily harm or death. This is what the prosecution has to prove. There are some things that have what we call a 'reverse burden'. For example, if the defendant wanted to plead deminised responsibility then they have to prove it.
In the case of heresy it would be up to accuser to show that he had said he was God. If there is an extraordinary excuse for why his is a special case (as is diminished responsibility to murder) then it would surely be up to him to prove it.
The European Court of Justice said this in regard to a reverse burden:
"If the provision imposed merely an evidential burden on the
defendant, it might be impossible for the Crown to disprove, beyond reasonable doubt, an assertion
that the defendant was suffering from diminished responsibility."
In Jesus' case it would be impossible for the prosecution to prove he wasn't God. But actually the romans and the jews did go beyond what I'd expect the law to say - they gave him the opportunity to prove he was God.
Jesus being the son of God caused a whole new Bible to be created which drastically changed the belief system. The possibility of God walking around was heresy.
Like I said it being true caused the religion to change. Heresy means that it went against the held beliefs of the time. If the religion had to change, clearly it went against the held beliefs.
"caused a whole new Bible to be created which drastically changed the belief system" .... they should have seen this coming ... Jeremiah 31:31
.
“Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah, .. not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” declares the Lord. .. “But this is the covenant >> which I will make with the house of Israel << after those days,” declares the Lord
http://dadmansabode.com/b/01/012609.mp3 Those who had seized Jesus led him away to Caiaphas .. the high priest .. where the scribes and the elders were gathered together ... but Peter was following him at a distance as far as the courtyard of the high priest .. and entered in .. and sat down with the officers to see the outcome .. now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus .. so that they might put him to death .. they did not find any .. even though many false witnesses came forward .. but later on two came forward .. and said . . . this man stated .. I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days ........ Matthew 26:57-61
http://dadmansabode.com/b/01/012610.mp3 The high priest stood up and said to him . . . do you not answer . . . what is it that these men are testifying against you .. and the high priest said to him . . . I adjure you by the living God .. that you tell us whether you are the Christ .. the son of God .. Jesus said to him . . . you have said it yourself .. nevertheless I tell you .. hereafter you will see the son of man sitting at the right hand of power .. and coming on the clouds of heaven .. then the high priest tore his robes and said . . . he has blasphemed .. what further need do we have of witnesses .. behold .. you have now heard the blasphemy .. what do you think .. they answered . . . he deserves death .. then they spat in his face and beat him with their fists .. and others slapped him .. and said . . . Prophesy to us .. you Christ . . . who is the one who hit you ........ Matthew 26:62-68
Although this isn't a trial, the discrimnation against african americans in from the beginning of slavery till not too long ago is probably one of the most unjust mankind has ever witnessed. To me, way worse than the crucifiction of Jesus Christ, becuase .. yeah well, Jesus was just one man out of thousands who were crucified in that time.
what's your point ?? ... it has nothing to do with a trial ... other than the judgement of the southern / liberal / atheistic / evolutionist who believed that the black man was the extension of a lower form of animal and therefore could be captured / sold or killed at will .. same as the atheistic / evolutionist Nazis who believed they were a superior evolved race and needed to exterminate lower forms of man .. especially the Jew .... maybe that was your point ?
ther than the judgement of the southern / liberal / atheistic / evolutionist who believed that the black man was the extension of a lower form of animal and therefore could be captured
Uhm .. FYI, the racists back in the 50's and there around were christian. You see pictures of people demonstrating on the street, with banners saying ''stop race mixing'' and ''Black people weren't created in God's image''
I said in my argument, that I know the discrimantion african americans fased these past couple of centuries isn't a triel, but it is without doubt unjust. I just thought it was worth mentioning, even though it was ... far from the subject.
As I said, I have no idea who OJ is, I know nothing about him, except from what I've learned right now - he murdered two people, got away with it innocent and .. apparently he is black.
Well it was just odd because you brought up racism on a debate that wasn't about racism? OJ got off because he claimed the police were racist when in fact, they weren't.
At least now the fucking idiot is in jail for another crime so at least there is a little justice for the families of the two people he savagely murdered.
No need to be sorry, I was just trying to clarify what you were saying and you have.
OJ is a disgusting, pathetic human being who murdered two people and got away with it by claiming racism so I just wanted to make sure what you were sayin'.
My point was basically to show one other episode of a person or group of people who've been victims to excessive unjust in our history. Jesus is waaaaaay down on my list, of the people whove recieved the most unjust in our world history.
I don't know who actually received the most unjust trial in world history, but it certainly wasn't Jesus.
1) Premise: The Bible is True, God exists, Jesus is his son.
-The trial did not have the capacity to be unfair as it was manipulated into occurring by Gods own machinations; he was sent to die, and this is how he died. To declare this an injustice is to declare God himself unjust. I am comfortable with this, but I doubt few of the faithful would be.
2) Premise: The Bible is not true, and Jesus was misguided at best.
-The trial was completely fair; Jesus was was most certainly acting counter to the interests of the government in most cases, and posed a significant risk factor for potential rebellion. Inciting a rebellion is considered treasonous in most nations, and treason is considered a capital offense in most nations. Without the divine authority granted by God, Jesus was nothing more than a rebel and traitor, and as such was treated as fairly as could be expected.
