No, you don't. I actually thought someone was being funny when I say this debate. I was thinking, haha why does school exist except "exist" is spelled wrong so the debate answers itself; school exists, among other reasons, to teach us not to make stupid errors in the first place, to know to proofread our work before we submit it, and about a little function called "spellcheck" all so we can know how to spell "exist" properly in a debate. School was created originally to train soldiers for war, other countries got wind of the idea and changed it to conform children to the rules of society. School is not there to teach, school is there to keep children aware of what they can't do. In other words, it is for lazy parents who don't want to teach their kids common sense. Side: teachers

It was used originally in america during the industrial age to teach kids to conform to a factory schedule (hence the bells and periods of work and break). However it soon became a valuable tool to educate the next generations of kids to be what society needs such as doctors, mathematicians, engineers, ect. It is EXTREMELY important to be educated. Plus parents do not have the resources or knowledge to educate you fully as information changes greatly from generation to generation. They dont have the time to do it and it wouldnt be successfull. How could my electrician dad teach me about quantum mechanics? Or american history? Sure life lessons and common sense stuff usually comes from following the example your parents set but thats it. I don't understand the answers: Kids and Teachers? Anyway school exists because i believe that children won't force themselves to open the book and read. I don't think i would certaintly have. School is much more about learning. It is about understand and socializing. Making friends. And learn more about yourself as a person. Find new interests and hobbies. And i doubt the world will change this system. So go to school and learn because i bet you are going to give your employer a bad first impression if you spelled "exist" wrong. I actually enjoy school alot. It's a place to meet up with friends, relax, separate from the outside world, learn interesting things, and have great experiences. Why would we get paid?
