would it be good if we all live forever?
when i say "live forever" i mean that nobody gives birth(otherwise you would have an evergrowing population), nobody gets killed and nobody dies.

Humans are learning creatures. We take pleasure in the activity. When we stop learning we become bored. If we lived forever we would eventually know everything, and our lives would lose a great deal of meaning. We need to hit the reset button once in a while by having babies and letting them figure shit out all over again. That said, eternal life might not be so bad if we had an easy and relatively painless suicide option. Side: No
I agree with your point and if I lived forever I would just change job every 20 years.I would also emberk in projects like building house and things. Also I think the government would be a lot more helpful and get rid of lots of restrictions. nobody would want to smoke or take drugs(you would be ill for the rest of your life) and everybody wouldn't be so selfish Side: No

No, and for several reasons. 1. Childishness. The thought of an entire population living forever (without death) is childish; plain and simple. Even if we could live forever, what would we be living for? 2. Overpopulation. We have A LOT to consider in terms of overpopulation. Consider countries such as Japan and India, who are densely overpopulated as it is. Adding immortality to this issue would be like giving all the steroids in the world to the worlds strongest man; it would be WAY TOO MUCH to handle, and would conclude with severe consequences. Reproduction would firstly have to be cut short, meaning a harder penalty on unprotected sex on a regular basis. Condoms would go from bathroom vendors to worldwide corporations with a higher income rate than Microsoft. Obviously there would be too much to deal with in terms of population for this "magical" ability to be given to humanity. 3. The Loss Of Morality. If a human being can live forever, then a human being can be immoral. The penalties of life's misbehaviors would no longer be in need of consideration should we all suddenly 'live forever'. Regardless of our actions, we would always live another day. A life sentence in prison would just be a joke. Besides, life is miserable enough to some people; they already waste it using drugs, committing criminal acts, and just being idiots. No penalty would matter if we could all just live another day. 4. The Problem of Age. Just how old are we talking about? Not just 100, 200, or even 1,000,000! We are describe a never-ending life of existence! We all need to think about the harsh reality of age and what it brings. Age brings with it in time a major decline in many psychological and physical skills (such as a decline of memory, an increase in physical conditions such as osteoarthritis, diminished sense abilities, and more). Sure, we could all 'live forever', but that does not necessarily mean that we would all remain youthful forever, would it? The topic doesn't mention youth either, so I'd assume that old age would continue to grow until life becomes so incapable, and yet, continuous. This doesn't sound so great anymore does it? This topic sounds like it's trying to bring happy thoughts into our minds, as we are supposed to consider how "happy and free we could all be throughout out lives, which just so happen to last forever". The fact here is that we need to consider our reality, and how it just could not cope with such an unfortunate change. Those of you agreeing with the topic need to wake up and smell reality; we would not last as a humanistic society with a life without an expiration. Side: No
but in a life without death their wouldn't be so many problems here are some of the problems today that wouldn't happen in a life without death: selfish beleifs today everyone is selfish in some form or another because life is short we have very little time to make our mark on humanity and all of us intend to do it.In a world without death we would want to share and make freinds knowing we've got all the time in the world pollution everyone would care more about the enviroment because we know that it would have to sustain us forever. religion religions happen because people want to know about what happens after death. if there is no death how can there be religion. war why would you fight if noone dies you would just be inflicting pain on others for no reason Side: yes

"In a world without death we would want to share and make freinds knowing we've got all the time in the world" How do you know? Can you predict the future? Believe me; the world would certainly change should we be capable of 'living forever', but this doesn't mean that our problems would suddenly go away. Eternal life could mean an endless era of selfishness; we would have all the time in the world to do whatever our hearts desired. Like I said in my other response to you; we could experience an eternity of crime. "everyone would care more about the enviroment because we know that it would have to sustain us forever." People don't seem to care that much about the environment right now, and it certainly may not last for the human race. We are polluting ourselves to death; and what courtesy are we showing? Sure, some of us try and make a difference, but the majority of the population of the world are ignoring an issue right in front of their eyes. Would we change? Probably not. " if there is no death how can there be religion." People will believe what they want to believe. Suppose that we're only living forever because 'God' wants us to. People would praise him for that, in fear that we may loose the 'gift' that 'he gave us'. This is one possible religious belief, and I'm sure there are thousands more. "why would you fight if noone dies you would just be inflicting pain on others for no reason" You can't expect people to suddenly 'drop' their hate in the dust where they left their mortality! We are still going to disagree, and we'll probably get primitive over it. Sure, we can't kill a person, but we can probably make them pretty damn miserable. Who knows what a human future of endless lives could bring in terms of conflict? We can only imagine, but there's a lot TO imagine! Side: No
some of your points are wrong 2. Overpopulation. We have A LOT to consider in terms of overpopulation. Consider countries such as Japan and India, who are densely overpopulated as it is. Adding immortality... AND THATS WHY I SAID IN THE COMMENTS THERE IS NO BIRTH 3. The Loss Of Morality. If a human being can live forever, then a human being can be immoral............. Besides, life is miserable enough to some people; they already waste it using drugs,...
why would you take drugs and make yourself ill permenantly. ...committing criminal acts, and just being idiots. why would you be a criminal the only reason to retort to crime is to make money quick and why would you do that if you got all eternity to. This topic sounds like it's trying to bring happy thoughts into our minds, as we are supposed to consider how "happy and free we could all be throughout out lives, which just so happen to last forever(THIS IS NOT TRUE) one of the purposes of this topic would be to see if everyone would live a different life if they knew that they wouldn't die. "some of your points are wrong" They're not wrong; you simply disagree with them. Your rebuttal isn't off to a good start. "AND THATS WHY I SAID IN THE COMMENTS THERE IS NO BIRTH" Really? Is this a case of prohibiting birth? Or would humans just be incapable of conceiving a child altogether? For a start we would have no work available in education (as we would eventually come to know everything), and alas there would be very little of us to teach. Not to mention the bigger problem; when are we going to want to have children? We may eventually be performing unprotected sex like it's an underground drug, and if we are physically incapable of creating children, then that's when genetic engineering will come into play. Robotic children compromised of human DNA; this is a future that we may have to deal with if we all could "live forever". "why would you take drugs and make yourself ill permenantly." Ha ha, you've identified a problem against your side, and believe me, people would surely do such a thing. Ever heard of addiction? The concept of breaking the rules (i.e rebellion)? By today's standards drugs are life changing. If we were everlasting in life, 'change' is our greatest enemies in health. "why would you be a criminal the only reason to retort to crime is to make money quick and why would you do that if you got all eternity to." Correct; an eternity of crime, wars and conflict. Crime lives forever. "one of the purposes of this topic would be to see if everyone would live a different life if they knew that they wouldn't die." Of course people would live different lives; they would have forever to do so. Side: No

if you mean live without any way of dieing then i think this would be bad. For one, like many of the other comments i'd say people would get incredibly bored and that people in bad financial situations would spend years of undetermined misery. Also, even if you can't die the pain that you'll feel as you get to and/or pass the age of one hundred then the usually worn out body by then will still decay. For people in the UK, think about the royal family! They'd stay exactly the same with no change of king/queen. I state my point Side: No
