To understand why government is important to our everyday lifestyles and essential to maintaining society, one needs to understand what life would be like without it. A society without a government is practically nonexistent today, for good reason. A lack of government would mean people would only have themselves to answer to. No coalition between like-minded individuals or sense of security would alienate people, most likely causing one to fear others for one's own safety. This fear of danger would be present in more ways than that. Previously government-provided services, such as police, firefighters, and ambulances would no longer be accessible. Regulations on goods and services would be negated, and people would lose any trust or faith in these things. Overall, government is a fundamental part of our lives, and without it, our society would crumble.
