Yes, but sometimes fake news stories engage more people than real news!

I agree with your point. This effect is called polarization, and it is when people strongly believe in a certain opinion or cause.

This can also be a problem within social media. People who are strongly against the person may lead out to a biased rant towards the representative. This bias may take a negative toll on that certain respresentative.

Yes, Jordan. The bias of social media may make news articles unimportant and bad.

While social media may let people express their opinions, they may lead to hate groups and polarization.

I agree with this. Russian hackers are manipulating the 2016 election, and it is very important.

Social Media promotes fake news. In 2016, fake news stories promoted more than real news. The fake news blog; including hoax sites and hyper-partisan blogs has engaged 8.7 Million people, while Real news has engaged 7.3 million people. Being misinformed can make lots of clueless debates and can cause major problems in society.

Social Media also reinforces negative biases. While social media makes people stand up for what they believe in, it can also promote hate groups like neo-nazism, hate against asian people, and even more. Claims can have unquestionable power, but bears no special claim or accuracy.

Social Media also increases polarity. polarity is the increased or strong opinion about something. Facebook and Youtube have algorithims to engage their audience in like-minded things. It's like being a vegetarian and end up as a vegan. These effects could be what is increasing polarity in america.
