Technology does more harm than good, because of its effect on our social, mental, and physical health. The constant use of communicating through phones and other devices hinders our social skills by giving us the inability to observe and learn from body language and social cues. 51% of teens say they would rather interact digitally than in-person, even with their friends. This also increases the chance of kids being bullied. About 80% of teenagers cause attest to being bullied online in some fashion and this has lead to increased youth violence, which can lead to poor mental health. Let alone the stress that can be caused by constantly wanting to be “in the loop” of what is going on. From a more physical standpoint, constantly looking down at your device can lead to neck pain or headaches from the eyestrain. The attachment people may feel can result in poor sleeping habits and looking at the screen and its glow may reduce the release of the chemical that helps us sleep, melatonin. However, people can very easily argue against the negativity of technology, but you cannot ignore the facts that it could hurt you as well.
