Technological progress creates more harmful effects on society than benefits. Technology contributes to bullying, violence, poor life skills, and poor mathematical and grammatical skills. As technology evolves, people can hide behind screens and assume anonymity. People shy away from face- to-face confrontation, and technology gives them the opportunity to say demeaning things that would not normally be said to someone's face. Cyber bullying is as harmful, if not more, than physical bullying. Many instance of cyber bullying has resulted in suicides. Technological advances create weapons with a much more potent effect. The addition of stronger weapons into society leads to increased crime and violence rates. Also, technological progress in the classroom aids in the death or grammatical and mathematical skills. Students become much too reliant on spell check and their calculators to do their work for them. In schools, cursive writing has become obsolete. Technological advances contributes to a lack of social skills. Kids, and even adults, are constantly on social media, playing games on their phones, and texting instead of actual face-to-face conversations. No matter the technology, it will impose some form of destruction on our society.
