I agree its not a decision you make. but we cant expect to know what our environment was like. Some people become gay due to distant fathers, or dominant mothers. Child sexual abuse too cause homosexuality. There are people with these kinds of environments but are not gay. Brain, like everything else changes. and There are many people with those kinds of brains but are not gay. So there are not definitive/decisive factors. Its a result of complex factors. Sexual orientation is learned most of the time
I don't believe that people are born in to any kind of behavior, may it be heterosexuality, pedophilia, homosexuality, introvert, extrovert, addictions or binge-eating.
There are certain biological factors that predispose a person for a certain behavior. But they are not decisive. There are so many people with so called biological factors but they are not gay.
People who wants to change, seek change for various reasons. Most of them want to build a relationship with a woman and have children. Some just wants the internal peace and serenity. They are not going back to the closet but in fact they come out as happier human beings. They come in term to their dreams and the biologically endowed anatomy.
I have something to say about the psychological fact you provided. It is true, sexual orientation feels very solid and concrete but it is not biologically ingrained. Like every other human behavior, sexuality is learned. There are biological factors that supports a certain behavior but they are not decisive.
From puberty onwards, a particular sexual orientation develops. For example when a heterosexual engages sexual activity or masturbation with a woman as a partner or as a fantasy, the body get adjusted. When that happens for a long time, a person get used to a particular sexual orientation.
Psychologists use reverse mechanisms to change the sexual orientation. Its called orgasmic reconditioning. Its a hard therapy, but it works and people have changed.
People who change do not become fake heterosexuals. In fact all these sexual categorizations are constructed and they are not real. There are not exclusive heterosexuals or homosexuals. Sexual orientation changes, like everything else.
It does not harm actually, it does the opposite by eradication depression, anxiety associated with unwanted homosexuality. Change is often life changing. They become calm and peaceful. There are many who are in fantastic relationships.
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
