Technological progress has helped advance our society to limits in which we never saw possible say about 15 years ago. Modern technology has aided the world immensely because without it modern medicine wouldn't be as advanced as it is now and we would still have people dying off from common illnesses. Also technology has been able to bring people together for the greater good. for my example of this I'm pretty sure everyone has heard of the hacktivist group known as Anonymous and despite the poor media coverage they receive they have used technology to benefit great causes a couple examples are OPSafewinter and OPAntibully. OpSafewinter is an operation in which Anonymous is using its following to help people actually realize homelessness is a legitimate and growing problem as well as providing homeless people with clothes, food and camping supplies. In OPAntibully anonymous used technology to help get justice for kids who were bullied and eventually took their life when the police wouldn't even bat an eye. Technology has gone to great lengths in making this world a better place cause with the power of the internet anyone can change the world with enough initiative, It's a lot easier to make a difference in the world then it was 30 years ago technology has provided us that extra reach that we need to really inform people on how we can make this world an ideal place to live in. with this power comes responsibility though people must realize you cannot blame technological advancement for people misusing it to harm others in a way its human nature that at least a few people will not use this great advantage to it's full potential.
