A social profile says a lot about a person. If you like to get drunk in your spare time or have a photo of yourself doing the full monty on FB, does not mean that your are unprofessional at work. The fact that you forget to hide this information from your boss is what makes you unprofessional. I believe that whatever you put online for everyone to see is a reflection of who you are, whether you like it or not.
Yes, but probably not as big of an advantage as we would like. The fact that the material is all in English helps, as well as the experience abroad during your internship or minor. But I wouldn't call us experts of the international market and everyone seems to study abroad these days..

It can be enough. Have a look at the success of brands active on platforms such as Pinterest and Tumbr. Text is needed for a person to actually purchase an item of the brand. However, if it's only about following a brand, an image or attractive model would probably do the trick.
I prefer face to face to for example Whatsapp. Often it leads to miscommunication or shallow conversations. However Facebook for example is nowadays quite frequently used for party promotions and such. So it can also lead to more face to face communication, if you can see where your friends are at.
