Most of the methane does not come from cows. That is a common misconception. Cows are not the leading cause of global warming. Besides, if we grew cells in a lab, there would be less need to have nearly as many cows as we currently have. Therefore, the methane would be drastically reduced.

Being grown in a clean, sterile dish is not "grooossss". You are much less likely to get sick from this. Consider this, cows are fed quite a bit of the world's corn. That corn could be used to feed humans or to make more biofuels. Cows take up a massive amount of Earth's arable land. More crops or even housing could be built on said land.

Beef would be recalled less due to health concerns. In China, many people are vegetarian simply because they are afraid of the types of influenza they can get from meat. Influenza cannot be cooked out of meat like E. Coli can.

You ignored what I said. Feminism allows women to be equal in their relationships. Adding more people to that doesn't change that. Practicing polygamous cultures have kept women down with religion the same way monogamous ones have. The number of people makes no difference, it's the secularization of society that allows this. You have no evidence to say that polygamy keeps women down. It's exactly the opposite. Religion has kept them down and they have gained rights by separating religion from social status. Now you want to use religion to make more equality? That hardly works. If polygamy is separated from crazy religious people, then it will not be harmful.

Limiting sex and romance goes against human nature and biology. Allowing more freedom of choice with relationships increases general happiness and reduces cheating. How is it that equality under the law doesn't extend to polygamy? You still haven't given any evidence for that. Having a monogamous or polygamous relationship doesn't change how expensive divorce is or how committed the involved people are. Polygamy isn't "socially immature". I don't know where you get that from.

Encouraging freedom does not turn sex into a competition. Repeating it without evidence won't get you very far. Whether a person is married to one person or three, they still have a shot a long term love. The problem with your arguments is a general ignorance of the polygamous mindset. You should try finding out more about it before debating. Besides, more sex doesn't lower social values. It sounds like something from a bad 50s PSA, lol. Your definition of romantic fairness is lopsided. Depriving people you've never met of their rights because you think they'll become "rapscallions!!" does not equate with romantic fairness. "Polygamy discourages morality" is not at all an argument.

If any community followed God's instructions word for word instead of just picking and choosing what made them comfortable and others suffer, then the community would t urn into a group of Batman villains. If the Bible is the written word of God, going against that is hardly progress. If it is not the written word of God, then there is no moral basis in the Bible. Your argument deconstructs itself.

It's funny that you say we alone are responsible for our choices, yet you say you should be responsible for the choices of others. A little bit hypocritical.

Yes, there is a separation of church and state. If you want to prevent polygamy, that is based on your religious views since you are the Second Coming of Christ apparently. Some religions do not look down on polygamy. Your wish would be for Christianity to have the leading voice in government. That violates the separation. We are supposed to have freedom from religion. Just because a guy you like said a quote that sounds good to you doesn't make him any less wrong. You can't just say that we should run the government based on Christian principles and still have freedom of religion. That is another hypocrisy.

I see no purpose in debating further. You live in a fantasy land. If I believe that the Earth is round, am I going to debate with a proponent of the flat Earth theory? No, because that gives them weight and lessens what I say. If you cannot answer with evidence or intelligence or stop saying that you know the personal desires of your blood-thirsty God, then you cannot debate with me. I don't mean to be rude, but having my time wasted is a bit offensive. It is also offensive that you assume if people loved each other more, they'd be degraded. You make it out to seem that you are superior to others.

Ok, so the Bible, the "written word of God" can now be ignored, and everything he said in there is now bad. This includes great figures such as David and Solomon. So I guess murder and theft are now ok. If we say that all the stuff you personally feel is wrong is now ok because it's the opposite of the Bible, then the reverse must be true.

I'm sorry, but I didn't get the memo about how you're now the speaker for God. It's a big responsibility to personally claim that the written word of God is all wrong and that you know this for a fact.

You dismantled your own argument. You said polygamy has a long history of treating women inferior, but now women are equal. That means they can have a polygamous relationship and still be equal. Here's a hint: monogamous marriage also has a long history of treating women inferior. All those rules about killing women for not being virgins? That was referencing monogamy. Feminists weren't fighting polygamy. They had no rights in monogamous relationships. They were fighting ownership by one person.

If two people can marry and others have to keep hands off, then three people can marry and others have to keep hands off. Just because a couple is monogamous in no way establishes fairness. There are plenty of abusive monogamous relationships in both directions. The fairness comes from the choices of the couple. In the same way, a quartet can decide to establish fairness or not. It's not up to you to establish that.

Marriage itself does not reinforce commitment and sexual responsibility (look up "cheating"). In fact, humans are hardwired to have multiple partners. So having multiple partners can actually increase happiness in relationships and life in general.

What about polygamy prevents public shaming through divorce? How is monogamy an advancement? It isn't, equal rights for women was the advancement. Now you want to deny a right in the name of equal rights? How does polygamy prevent everyone in society from finding love in life? That makes no sense.

Lastly, I will say that there is a separation of church and state in this country (I'm assuming you mean the US). It should stay that way. When religion has a say in politics, women are kept down, rights are stripped, and lies are told. I would rather not have religious ramblings in a government where it is not supposed to have an influence. That is the only reason I entertain the idea of debating with somebody who is delusional. With the loss of human rights and life each day due to religions, I feel obligated to argue it. Again, you have not said why you personally should be able to prevent a right and a person's happiness. You say "hands off" from outsiders, but you seem fine with putting your hands into somebody else's relationship.

When men treat women wrongly in polygamous cultures, it is on a religious basis. That is in countries where women have fewer rights and are again, property of men. I know plenty of examples. Sodom and Gomorrah again have nothing to do with polygamy.

You haven't very well addressed what I said about women in the Bible. If you want to use the religious approach to marriage, that means that women are property. If you don't want to use it because it's archaic and change the rules so women are equal, then why not change the rules so consenting adults can be polygamous? Besides, many of the greatest names in the Bible were polygamists.

How does polygamy turn love and sex into a competition? Why would God be against it if it's not wrong and makes people happy? Why is it unjust for people to have more rights and be happy, but yet it's just for you to try and regulate that happiness?

It isn't fake. It's animal cells growing into muscle. The only difference is that currently, it is grown on the platform of an animal, and synthetic meat is grown on the platform of a dish. Only difference is the platform, and you never see or eat the platform. It is still natural and less likely to make you sick.

Polygamy showed up several times in the Bible. Abraham, David, and Solomon are a few of the more prominent holy men who had multiple wives.

If your argument is fairness, then using the biblical definition doesn't support that either. According to the Bible, women are property of men. If a woman was not a virgin when she was married, she was to be publicly killed. If a married man dies leaving no children, his brother must marry the widow and she must produce offspring. That is hardly fair to women, and religion is a big part of it.

Why can't a man take care of multiple wives? Why does having multiple wives make love into a competition? Surely a man is capable of loving more than one woman and dividing his time equally between them.

Sodom and Gomorrah have nothing to do with polygamy nor with fairness and responsibility with love.

Lastly, who are you to say that polygamy isn't fair in love or sex? Telling people they can't choose for themselves is the unfair part.

I haven't seen anybody call you barbaric. Can you give examples of groups rushing for freedoms when a new law was passed? Polygamy has reasons to be made legalized. Bestiality does not. Even if there were a rush of people, that doesn't at all mean they would get their way. Not allowing consenting adults to be polygamous because a pedophile might ask for something similar is irrational.

The question says you can solve starvation now though. At the moment in reality, neither are really able to be immediately solved.

There have been polygamous relationships where the family was happy. Jealousy is a choice as I have found out myself. Does the fact that you get jealous sometimes mean that you can regulate how somebody else feels love?

And I didn't compare the love of a wife and child, I compared the time spent with both in one household. It is possible to share time on a schedule with multiple wives.

1 point

You're comparing bestiality with polygamy. The difference is that polygamy involves consenting adults. Bestiality doesn't. They said the exact same thing in the years leading up to Emancipation. That doesn't make it true.
