There are, but there aren't any pain relievers with less side effects than cannabis. It's healthier than popping a pill and far cheaper. Science has consistently shown cannabis to not only be beneficial for innumerable conditions but that the US government's propaganda and stance on its legality is the truly dangerous element in the equation.
The only way any of the slow adopting institutions are going to turn a profit in the coming years is to embrace file sharing as the preferred way of media consumption.
Firefox brought an abundance of new features to web browsing that every other browser is now mimicking. Not to mention the speed, add-ons and excellent community involved.
Reading the manual at the very least prevents the humiliation of a person hammering out an irate review of the product on their internet community of choice only to be told their problem could have been prevented by reading the first page of the manual.
This is a conditional yes. If they were paid so little, they would change the monetary system would have to reflect it. Politicians would never allow themselves to live in poverty and they know that minimum wage is garbage. Without the minimum wage worker, many corporations would not exist. Yet the minimum wage is not enough to realistically live on in this country. If you go somewhere housing is cheap, minimum wage is less to reflect that. Minimum wage should be enough that anyone can afford at least basic shelter and necessities with a little room for saving or emergency expenses. Not so little that you can't pay rent, much less your other bills with a month's rent.
Mythology was about stories that explain things people could not. Even things they knew about they created gods for. Mythology was all about the sharing of the story and the spreading of creative ideas. Religion took that over and has now been perverted into a place where people honestly and truly believe the stories of their chosen religion to be absolute fact. For a rational, advanced human being to believe what amounts to Aesop's Fables: The Extended Edition is anything more than pure parable is mind boggling.
I think the idea that stoned people don't want to do anything is an idea created and perpetrated by the same people who want to keep it illegal. We as a culture subscribe to it at an almost subconscious level. Cannabis doesn't demotivate you, just look at medical users and those in Amsterdam. It's the individual's choice to sit around doing nothing and it certainly seems appealing when high. Though if you notice, the same people who sit around while stoned also sit around sober. It would be a lot more difficult for them to keep profiting off of a nearly harmless plant if their spiel went something like:
"You can do almost everything stoned that you can sober. Even drive and interact in a polite manner with your peers. Studies show that it's not nearly as harmful for you as we once claimed and actually has many benefits, many of which can only be gained by smoking or ingesting the plant. It's still illegal though so don't smoke pot kids. It's for losers."
There is too much negative advertising. Too many advertisers prey on the insecurities of the consumer. We are brought up in a world where we are made to feel inadequate unless we subscribe to a certain idea, a certain fashion sense, a certain physique. Advertising has created and perpetuates this illusion in addition to encouraging people to live beyond their means. All so the obscenely wealthy can add another pile of money to their account.
Something bothers me more than McCain's sugar mama enabling him to be monetarily wealthy while calling Obama an elitist. It's the underlying idea as others have already pointed out that being intellectual makes you elite somehow. Higher education is something that should be commended, not frowned upon. This is the real problem. McCain makes jokes about and is proud of being just about the worst academically in his class and people out there want that in a leader? They want someone who was a terrible student and a terrible soldier? Someone whose presidential campaign deemed the Straight Talk Express is mangled and manipulated by his party as we sit and watch?
That someone like this can say anything and be taken seriously, much less be in the running for the highest political position in this country makes us all look like fools.
