Socialism is the ideal society. What are republicans trying is the system that took down Ukraine and is destroying Russia. The are trying to introduce Oligarchy, the rule of rich people, that steal trough insane contracts (like F-35)....
Scientists rarely make a lot of money, study of hard sciences is very difficult, expensive and long. However they are critical for advance of society. So if you have a really smart people who has to pick between Biochemistry and Law...
Having research programs/degrees for free would make actual impact.
What would you rather see in let say, 2020. One million of new Lawyers/accountants or Chemists, Physicists, Clinical Scientists, Material Scientist...?
WHich do you think would in long term increase the GDP in long term?
What kind of logic is that? There is no word in the Book of Job about it being a poem... But it is. You can't always apply modern mentality to ancient cultures. If they all knew it was a tale, especially a religious one, they do not need clarification that it is an allegory. I do not know of many examples of ancient cultures categorizing their stories. A metaphorical story was probably pretty obvious to them, as it should be to us.
So it is a poem now, then why do you have need to trick me in believing that 6 days does not means six days because that would be impossible?
“These are not ordinary days bounded by minutes and hours, but days of God... The beginning of each act of creation is called morning, and the close of that specific divine act is called evening.”
Random person opinion.
The number seven in ancient times was significant, not only in terms of days, but also in terms of months and years: Genesis 8:4 "And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat."
This is more likely custom, same as we use dozen... Also it is most likely done during consolidation of those stories into a book.
Spend some time looking up numbers in the Bible. They were very important to ancient Jewish culture.
There is no reason for it, our debate is about "Does six days means six day?" and the answer is Yes.
Yeah, it seems wrong if you interpret it literally. They're clearly allegories, though. Especially The Fall. Look into ancient religious tales and tell me how many state at the beginning that they are metaphorical.
Again, that is your personal opinion. It would have more weight if you knew person who wrote it down... but otherwise....
I study religion... A LOT. I can tell it is a subject that you don't understand very well, no offense. You should study these subjects some more before coming to a conclusion. Times have changed, and story telling techniques that were relevant then, are not really relevant anymore.
There is nothing to study. Simple story that are made up by primitives and people who heard voices, there is nothing confusing.
What you call studying bible , means making up stuff, playing with words to make it look less pathetic, more real... "Trying to make it look like it is "metaphorical" because otherwise it is just bunch B Grade fairy tales... and you do not want to have your religion based on that, do you? You want "Mystical", "Metaphorical" and complicated thing... which is it Not...
I am probably a good person but I haven't taken the time to fill out my profile, so you'll never know! |
