Totally agree. For now, one of our greatest protections against nukes is the fact the we threaten to use our own nukes against anyone threatening us. Ever hear of M.A.D.? That's what kept Russia and the US from destroying all of humanity several times over.
We definitely can't send the message that "First punch is a freebie" and expect that enemies of the US will stop trying to attack or threaten us.
Literally any implementation of socialism (if we're talking about original conceptions of it under Marxist political theory) has failed miserably. Russia? Venezuela? Cuba? China? Shall I go on? Have any of them had great experience with communistic governance and overall rejection of capitalism?
The reason socialism is both conceptually and in reality impossible is because it ultimately relies of the goodness and morality of its people and its governors. If we were to live in a utopia where everyone was good, this might be a great form of government, but due to human nature totalitarianism governments are sure to form, violate basic human rights, and oppress the working class way more than capitalism.
Best real world evidence? Look at all the successful countries in any continent (Europe, USA, Asia) Which have the lowest State Fragility Index(are more stable)? Answer: All the capitalistic states. Which states have the highest and violate more human rights systematically? Answer: Those with communistic/Marxist theories implemented into government policy.
Capitalism and Democracy go hand in hand and fuel each other, and both of these things provide for the greatest quality of life and protection of human rights than any other known form of government.
Rant over.
