There is such thing as a dark age of communication. There was a point in time we didn't know other civilizations existed hence the idea and cultures of different societies could not be communicated. Working harder for less efficiency is not beneficial at all to the human race, hence the need for technology

The older technology reduced the rate in which we produce good significantly. It would take so many more people working by hand in order to make a ship than people who use machines to make a ship. The quality of the things we create are much higher than things in the older ages of time where we didn't have technology. There will be no future without technology, we will have nothing to progress against what the world may throw at us...or the sun. Technology won't fail if we keep progressing, the technology that does fail will not be as good as the new technology that works in the present and the technology in the future will be better than the tech we have now.

Technological advancement is not only good but essential to living in the world. Vaccines are essential today for fighting not only present day viruses but also past viruses. For example, the bubonic plague, the disease responsible for one of the most devastating pandemics in human history, currently has a 1-15% mortality rate compared to the 40-60% mortality rate when not treated. This plague also wiped out 60% of Europe's entire population. Vaccines have made this disease curable to the point today it isn’t even a threat. Technology also allows us to progress in research of any field. If we have the ability to learn the cure to any disease, bio-chemical warfare becomes insignificant if we can just treat the people being harmed. As long as technology keeps advancing, past technology becomes inferior. This applies to both military and civilian life. We have new technology that makes the old technology harmless. For example, a ship that is made out of wood compared to a ship made of steel will be significantly worse than the ship with steel. This allows transportation and military use to benefit from the new technology. Tech doesn’t need to be purely military or health related either, it can be educational as well. Technology enables us to learn nearly anything with a press of a couple keys. This is extremely useful, but it can always be improved with technology. The argument against technology usually deals with ethics, that it is making us less human and more robot. However, human life has changed consistently throughout the ages and we are still human. We just have more tools to make human life easier and safer for those who use it.
