Let me add this little tidbit, most sleeping pills like Ambien are actually derivatives of LSD and can cause similar effects in people. That is why they are known as hypnotics. You can have trips just like if you were taking acid straight up.

Source: I am a Pharmacy Technician and I take Ambien myself.

There is this drug that is rampant in Russia right now called "Krokodil". This stuff is so bad, it literally destroys your tissue and for ever time you shoot up with this stuff. It is considered a year off of your life. According to the health ministry in Russia, the life expectancy for a Krokodil addict is no more than 3 years. Heroin is actually much safer than this drug and that is saying a lot.

I am all for assisted suicide for those with severe pain, mental anguish and needless suffering brought on by a terminal illness. A person should not have to suffer during end stage disease.

But, I don't agree with suicide involving the mentally ill. As a person that has attempted three times and is now suffering the consequences for my actions, there is a multitude of assistance that person can receive. Plus, committing suicide because of a mental illness causes a LOT of stress and problems for your family members. They will not understand why you made the choice that you did.

If you survive, you will never be trusted to a certain degree by family members and people outside your family. You might have shortened your life and after the appropriate psychiatric help. You will wonder why you did what you did.

I am an atheist, free thinker and could be scholar and I have SchizoAffective disorder. Having S.A. doesn't make you into an atheist, nor does being religious at the same time. Being an atheist is a life choice. Its the choice of not believing in the unbelievable and listening to things like modern science, philosophy and other things.

To be honest, I have had the opportunity to know quite of few Christians, and Muslims that have mental issues. So I would say that it doesn't matter what personal beliefs you have, its the genes you were born with that matters the most.

Some people just don't understand. Not every woman using contraception is doing it for the purpose of birth control. The hormones used in these drugs also help with metabolic diseases (Like Hypothyroidism and Certain Reproductive Tract disorders). This whole issue has turned not only into a medical issue, but a religious one as well. Every woman should have access to hormone pills and it should be mandatory for all insurance companies to provide coverage.

I see about 30 commercials a day concerning impotence and yet, we don't see an attack by the government against this issue. Except that is isn't covered by medicare.

The fetus is fully developed by the time late term abortions happen. It would be the equivalent of homicide to partially birth a baby and then kill it. Don't get me wrong, I am pro choice. But its just wrong at that point of time.

Really? What if you have stage four cancer and the most powerful pain killers known to man doesn't work? Are you supposed to sit on your laurels and hope that you die soon enough? Even if that means spending the last 6 months of your life in brutal agony. By the way, Jack Kevorkian's machine was a very similar system used by the states to executes murderers. It would dispense a very powerful sedative and then a paralytic and finally Potassium Chloride to stop your heart. It actually worked faster than the states systems.

Do a little more research into Jack Kevorkian before you bring him up

When you talk about Assisted Suicide for depressed people, you are going down a slippery slope. The only way that should be allowed is that if all the drugs and all other therapies don't work (Including Shock Therapy). Then and only then should it be allowed for mental illness.

1) Have a D.N.R. on file

2) Speak to your family and see what they feel about the possible choices that you can make.

3) Have at least 2 doctors officially diagnose you with a terminal illness that will lead to pain, undue suffering, and the complete loss of the quality of your life.

Personally, I have the second stage of renal failure and I have complications from Diabetes. Its terrifying to know that it will eventually turn into a terminal illness. My kidney doctor calls it "Creeping Death", because it takes so long. If the suffering is bad enough, then I would request it.
